Mr. President

This is a good game, but it requires two things: You have to be the sort of person who likes extremely complicated board games where you shuffle little tiny cardboard chits around on a board, and you have to be the sort of person who can overlook absolutely terrible AI art in a video game. Like not just normal "I don't like AI art" bad, like really, really bad AI art that never should have made it out of the ChatGPT session that spawned it. If you don't check both of these boxes, you probably shouldn't buy this. But if you do, it's a lot of fun.

WTF am I evn doing?!?

I bought the hard copy and love it. It takes up a lot of space and I spend. Lot time going through the various charts. I really love the Steam version. It does all that checking for you. It allows you to just focus on the game. The interface and graphics are top notch.

This is my first EVER review of a game on Steam. I really love this game but there are some fixes and improvements needed to make it better and more enjoyable. If you like world strategy games and have a basic understanding of the world of politics and diplomacy then this game is for you. Otherwise, don't waste your money. After 95 hour of play so far, my first 3 play attempts (easy level) resulted in terrible loss which forced me to REALLY dive into all the documentation and charts. My 4th attempt resulted in Victory at the end of my 4-yr term and my fifth attempt finished at the end of the 3rd year with "Greatest President in History" even though I actually was 6th on the list with 39 Legacy Points. If the game had let me go the full 4-year term....Who knows???? Tried a few times on NORMAL level but, that was a joke (see comments below)! Anyway, here is my list of likes and dislikes. What I like: - Can be many instances of pure gratification after a critical tactical or diplomacy decision goes well. - ADDICTIVE....sometimes fun and sometimes frustrating LOL - Demands critical thinking and evaluation of world events before making any decisions. - Documentation is very good. (Very helpful and informative) What I don't like: - The dice roll result (if they truly represent a rolling of real dice) should be completely random but they tend to be biased to some degree. NORMAL play mode is VERY FRUSTRATING due to the dice roll issue. Recommendation - play the EASY Level (if you want to call it easy)....Much more fun. Hopefully they will make the dice roll more like real dice when playing the Normal Level in upcoming patches as it relates to the dice roll issue. - Game can end with a victory before the end of your 4-year term which prevents you from the ultimate achievement of "Greatest President in History" - Give us all 4 years!!! - Some of the decision/info boxes cover most of the screen making it difficult to check the various main board and regions board info. - Game hangs up when the DC Bombing chit is drawn - everything Blurred out. Some other game freezes occurred so, Recommend saving often to avoid having to replay entire sections due to a game glitch that forces you to close out the game to resolve the issue. - No Mode to allow play with a friend - Hopefully in the future.

Terrible game.... not worth it, you literally control nothing... just a dice and those dumb crisis cards are ridiculous.... there are not decisions that you make other than actions you take but after that its all dice....

Unbalanced AI slopfest.

Oh lordie, this seemed a complex but intreging idea of a game. And it took learning I'd figure. Great concept, and was willing to make mistakes and learn. But it has glitches. Freezing, locking up at times. Overlays get frozen and won't clear blocking the play area. But time and again the worst part is it's own built in AI/RNG problems. Repeatedly the game has a nasty habit of having the RNG create death spirals where one moment you have the finger on the pulse of the world. And then suddenly the game is over, all due to a chain of pure RNG you have ZERO control over and no way of even preventing. While I could believe that as an occassional fluke, every play thru was a rinse/repeat of an RNG death spiral ending the game out of the blue. The fluke; as I can see after repeated playthrus; is actually getting through all four years of a term. The default is RNG death spiral each and every time. What a shame, it had so much potential for teaching and learning this simulation. Instead, it's an Edsel.

Fun, early release. Lot's of upside. The scripted die rolls feel plastic. and puts on tall guardrails preventing huge victories or catastrophic losses. Would like to see an option for instantaneous die rolls, and pass on die seeds.
