The gameplay is fine but I have had multiple projects not be counted as complete or deleted or corrupted after saving and coming back, I want to like this game but I am tired of redoing entire models because the game has a bug somewhere that can't keep my mission progress even though it keeps the models. An overall infuriating experience, I cannot recommend.
This was a fine game for a long time. But at some point within the last year or so, an update completely broke the game, and now it constantly crashes before reaching the main menu. The devs have been completely absent, and the issue remains unsolved. Avoid picking this up until AFTER the issue is fixed.

While a decent idea the game has the most frustrating controls. It is almost like this was made for Tablets. Everything defaults to "Pen pressure controls" strength or size. The masking tools will make you want to punch your screen. Just some horrible UX/UI choices made here. With the Dev team dropping it cold turkey in this unpolished state I will pass on their other games. The model selection is extremely limited and the developers have jumped ship. Steam Workshop was being worked on in 2022. Here we are 4 years later and nothing. They need to make the masking tool like the paint bucket tool. You can pick a part to mask. Having to buy all the sizes and them hand paint the masking on is an exercise in futility. Doing the Frost Punk Generator one of the steps has you mask almost the entire thing. I quit. The tools to do it are playground level annoying. So if this is on your wish list and you are considering it just pass and find something else. This is a dead game that is un-finished and un-polished.
The game idea seems nice. I like to build models, but since I don't have space now, building them digitally seemed a good alternative. But the bugs totally broke the game. Got stuck in one mission in the carreer mode and can't get past it, not even if I reload an old save game. It just don't track the mission and, even if I finish the model, I can't finish the project. Tried a lot of things but none worked. New gameplay for career mode? No, thanks. Sandbox? Maybe, but some models are locked by career missions. Well, another game to put to the "forget it" list, sadly.
Played it for 2 hours before saving for another time. Now the game doesn't get past the "In partnership with" screen without crashing. Tried verifying files, deleting ini, but nothing helps. The game itself is as tedious as real life building, but with how the devs have left the crash bug for years without a response, better skip this even with a discount.
Its an ok game. I've got quite a few hours with it, which is necessary if you want to actually get the models looking good. If you're into these kinds of games, this is a nice idea and may be worth putting a few pennies towards. However, that said, I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you have a lot of patience. The controls are fiddly, the game a little buggy and the tools permanent. This wouldn't be an issue but the game also lacks an undo, reset or quicksave option, with saving requiring you to back out to the main menu each time. This means that after spending what can be up to hours ensuring a complicated piece of painting is accurate, you can undo all that work by accidently fill painting the whole model whilst trying to change the instructions page. This has happened to me a number of times and isn't helped by the fill tool frequently changing its own settings from "fill piece" to "fill model" (an option I've never wanted or used). If that all sounds tolerable to you then you may enjoy this game. However if you are off put by occasionally needing to repeat a lot of time consuming intricate work, I would avoid. I am recommending this game due to Steam's binary Yes/No options, but please consider this review as "Mixed".
tl;dr the only word I really have for this game is "disappointing." I like the gameplay, even if the controls are fiddly, my Wacom tablet won't work with the game at all, and I end up spending an absurd amount of time trying to get the paint JUST right with my mouse. However, I hit a wall in career mode with the auction house quest. I finished the model I bought for it (despite not having access to the apparently necessary masking tape), even have the model in my inventory, can put it on display if I want, but there is no auction house for me to sell it on to complete the quest. I also can't start any other project, despite having bought two other models. A little research has informed me that this is a long-standing bug, going back at least three years, which has never been fixed. So my only choices are, what, give up on career mode (which I REALLY wanted to play all the way through) and just do sandbox while missing out on the story-locked models, or start over completely, paint the stupid dragon AGAIN, and pray the bug misses me this time? Neither option is particularly appealing. I'm glad I got it on deep discount so I'm not out very much, but I still wish I could refund it - unfortunately, the dragon alone ate HOURS of my time, and I am well beyond the refund threshold at this point. A waste of time and money, terribly disappointing.
