รีวิว Midnight Mysteries: The Edgar Allan Poe Conspiracy ภาคแรกของเกมซีรีส์ Midnight Mysteries ที่มีชื่อต่อว่า The Edgar Allan Poe Conspiracy แน่นอนว่าเนื้อเรื่องก็จะเกี่ยวกับการตามหาคนร้ายในคดีฆาตกรรมนักเขียนนิยายแนวระทึกขวัญชื่อดังที่มีตัวตนอยู่จริงอย่าง Edgar Allan Poe เพื่อปลดปล่อยวิญญาณที่ถูกจองจำด้วยความรู้สึกติดค้างให้กลับไปสู่สุขติ ในเกมเราจะได้เล่นเป็นนักเขียนนวนิยายที่ตีแผ่เรื่องราวเหนือธรรมชาติที่ไปพบเจอมาจริงๆ ดังนั้นมินิเกมหาของในฉากตามภาษาอังกฤษที่กำหนด (ซึ่งมีให้เล่นเยอะมาก แถมมาต่อเนื่องด้วย) จะมีการพบเจอเบาะแสที่คนร้ายทิ้งเอาไว้ ซึ่งเชื่อมโยงไปยังสถานที่ถัดไป รวมทั้งผู้ต้องหาคนอื่นๆ ก็ถือว่าเป็นแนวสืบสวนสอบสวนไปในตัว เนื้อเรื่องในเกมจะดัดแปลงมาจากนวนิยายชื่อดังของ Edgar Allan Poe หลายๆเรื่องเชื่อมต่อกันเป็นเรื่องเดียว แล้วสรุปเขาถูกฆ่าโดยใคร และถูกฆ่าด้วยเหตุผลอะไร พบคำตอบได้ในเกมนี้ (ไม่แน่ใจว่าในเกมเป็นเรื่องจริงหรือเรื่องแต่ง ยังไงก็ใช้วิจารณญาณตอนเล่นด้วย)

very old style game... no timer so good for relaxed play, no achievements to obtain

A dated HoG with a lacklustre story and more Hogging than puzzling. There's simply better out there.

It's engaging and fun! I have autism and this helps with keeping my mental skills sharp!

It’s FINE. For an HOG, it’s FINE. There’s no infuriating navigation, just hidden object scenes, and a few very easy puzzles to let them breath. A few objects look like indistinguishable blobs, but that’s what the lantern is for. Also, real cute with the non-indicative names. “Grooms hair?” “Propels boat?” “Blouse fastener?!” That last one is a button, by the way. It's not awful; if you like HOGs, you might like it. The story is slow and formulaic, yet also all over the place with the constant setting shifts, but the game's easy. I know it’s my fault for letting these games clog up my backlog, but I’m still clinging on to a hope of hopes that I can find one with true beauty or wit. For this particular title, I just need to let it go, move on. ...also, just to be even more petty, I’d like to point out that Boss Tweed was 26 when Poe died, an undistinguished volunteer firefighter in New York, 185 miles away from Poe in Baltimore, hardly the white-bearded politico depicted here.
