Take every piece of advise from the negative reviews don't do the same mistake i did
I really wanted to love the Career Mode in this game—it was the main reason I was excited to buy MSFS—but the overall logic is fundamentally broken. The latest update just made things worse, crashing on me 3 times today alone. Do not buy this if you expect a working aviation business simulator. Here are the MAIN points I have experienced so far during my 300+hours gameplay. There is more to it, however.. Weird Aircraft Progression & Missing Planes: The fleet choices in Career Mode make absolutely no sense. There are no "in-between" modern regional jets. Where are the promised Embraer jets, the A220, or the Dash-8 for airline service? Instead, they focus on injecting obsolete, 60-year-old planes like the Boeing 707 that nobody uses for modern career transport. Even the ATR is notoriously buggy, and the Cessna Grand Caravan—a plane used daily in real life for passenger island-hopping—is locked out of standard passenger transit in the game. Broken Dispatch & Impossible Destinations: The mission generator is completely drunk. It will ask you to fly a fully loaded airliner across the ocean with insufficient fuel, or assign you a Honda Jet and demand you land on a 600-meter unpaved dirt strip in the Swiss Alps. It even sends you to defunct military bases in Ethiopia, only to penalize you for landing in the middle of nowhere because the airport doesn't actually exist anymore. Suicidal ATC & Weather Avoidance: ATC will clear you for take-off with planes sitting on the runway. If there is a massive hurricane, ATC won't vector you around it; they route your Cessna straight into the storm and penalize you for it. Furthermore, you cannot request an alternate airport if your destination is socked in with zero visibility fog. The Passenger Experience is a Joke: I spent millions on a luxury Longitude, but the game only spawns one lonely passenger. On regional 30-seater flights, the AI cabin crew demands to serve hot food literally 3 minutes before landing, and if you deny it, passenger satisfaction drops. Furthermore, passengers scream and tank your rating if you bank more than 15 degrees—even when it's physically required to line up on short final. Missing Features & Infinite Alarms: Want to know your V1 or max flap speeds? Good luck, because many cockpits are missing basic placards and manual data. If your autopilot disconnects due to a physics glitch, the master warning alarm gets permanently stuck in an infinite, unsilenceable loop. If you request IFR taxi while the useless AI dispatcher is talking, the radio soft-locks and freezes your controls. My female co-pilot literally speaks with a deep male voice. No Geopolitical Realism: For a "simulator," it completely ignores real-world airspace closures. You can casually fly VIP charters over active warzones in Ukraine, bypass Russian sanctions, or fly direct from Busan to Pyongyang without a care in the world. Time Compression = Death: If you try to use the 2x sim rate, the Live Weather system randomly injects freak wind shear or "moon gravity." The autopilot panics, throws the jet into a violent death roll at FL450, and ruins hours of progress for absolutely no reason. World Generation Bugs & AI Logic: This does not reflect the real-life world. If you fly into regional airports or dirt strips in Florida, the terrain generation is so glitched out that the runways literally look like deep canyons. Meanwhile, you'll be on short final for a massive 13,000-foot runway in Munich, just 10 feet off the ground, and ATC will force you to go around because of broken AI traffic. It can still be fun, I still like to launch it and fly my planes around, the graphics are surreal, you can see some major cities landmarks, navigate around the Mont Blanc or admire the stars when cruising high at night. Save your money until they actually finish developing the game and you are expecting a proper simulator from two big companies like Microsoft and Asobo. A shame it takes them almost 2 years to fix things.. 2/5
Ignored all the negative reviews, hoping the latest updates had fixed the problems. Tried loading into career mode 3 times, all 3 times I crashed to desktop. Refunded.
I was someone who had (and still has) Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. I would say for normal screen mode gaming, if you have a good pc you should be good, i recommend trying ultra first then high end if you aren't satisfied with the framerate. *I have MSFS 2020, is it worth the upgrade?* Honestly, I would say do not upgrade unless you are an aviation geek or if it is on sale (i got this when it was on sale) *How does it run?* it does run super well, but at the same time lots of people are saying stuff about it crashing, i have had it for 2-3 days, not a single crash after ~10 hours (9.8) if you have a decent pc with decent internet, you *SHOULD* be good, I am not sure.
As a simulation of flight, it's decent enough and mostly similar to MSFS 2020. Minor differences in handling, at least with the default aircraft. A bit better feeling on the ground. The main problem is that literally everything else surrounding the actual simulation is utterly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken. The UI and UX in particular is atrocious. It's stuttery, takes forever to transition between menus, sometimes menu functions and buttons just don't work or do something entirely different from what you were expecting. There are multiple dead ends in menu navigation where the game offers the ability to open a certain screen only to tell you that you actually can't access this from here and you have to go back to the main menu or something to open it. There are certain functions that you would expect to be standard that just aren't there, like for instance cancelling a download in progress. Bit of a problem when this vibe-coded pile of garbage started a 350+ GB download when you were just trying to download a single aircraft. Certain settings just refused to save no matter what I tried, requiring me to set them again every time I started the game. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. That's fine, I'd be okay with that. If that is the case, ANY amount of feedback should be the bare minimum to let me know why my settings aren't saving, why my inputs are doing absolutely nothing or entirely the wrong thing. MSFS 2020 was already an absolute mess with this, I don't know how they could possibly have made it even worse. I only covered my frustrations with the UX but that's only the tip of the iceberg with how busted this thing is. Unless you're REALLY invested in walking around outside your aircraft or doing the career mode activities, you'd be better off with 2020.
Way too many glitches that have been around for years at this point but the devs refuse to fix, even with there being a million DLCs. This game only survives because there are no other worthwhile flight simulators.
so many issues with either the planes or login in to Xbox. If i had the chance i would take my money back.
honestly just stick to x-plane 12. msfs2024 is way too much work. i didnt drop a good 100aud on flying, instead i dropped it on a grand tour of the settings page. I spent a good while just trying to set up the controls and fix the settings. tried dlss and instead of getting frame generation the peformance decided to go backwards??. although the graphics and scenery looks nice but controlling the plane is a sh!t show even the keybinding took a good chunk of my life away and the absolute worst part is the camera system moving your joystick hat switch literally throws you across the cockpit for no reason. x-plane's camera is so much easier doesnt take a newborn to click on a single button to move across unlike msfs. I only bought this to fly around and possibly doing actual flights and I can't even do that without struggling so supposedly msfs needs a massive rework. not worth the headache
Started out with me buying a controller, which worked perfect, but when i had to load the game for the first time, it wouldnt let me login with a MS account. Got the: cant lookup your account. I went to several post, and youtube vids to fix it, which I did after about an hour. Primary interest for me was careermode, which was super buggy. After landing I got black screen, radiotower audio started looping, graphical glitches, polit sat on landinggear, or plane was sitting half inside a truck or a hangar. This game is not worth the €60
