I've "finished" the game, although it didn't quite feel like I had.

The Bad

The UI is BAD! It's all over the place. While you're in an auction, there are so many UI popups happening that you can end up losing a sale because you have to click through everything else first.
The "ending" is so anticlimactic. You get a new trait, and yeah... that's basically it, along with a UI telling you a story.
The UI is badly designed. It doesn't make sense most of the time. There's no clean split between your tools, the shop, your horses, etc. Everything is just pushed into a tool wheel.
No information is given whatsoever regarding your horses, what traits actually do, or what can happen with breeding.
The farming is horrible. You can't select a plot to grow only certain items, and your farmhand just plants everything everywhere. Also, why can't I simply build my own plots freely? Why should farming plots reduce the same building limit as actual buildings?
The building principle itself is fine, but it's also badly designed around the world. You have all this land available after petitioning for more land and buildings, but you can only place 64 buildings. I mean, then it's kind of useless getting these massive parcels of land, but limited to building and expanding.
There is no snapping or adjusting when building
The AI workers are heavily lacking. You can't level them up, increase their speed, or improve them in any way, so they're just cantering around doing their thing at the exact same pace forever. Also, why can't I have more than one farmer handling my farming plots? Ten farming plots vs. one man. Damn.
A horrible thing is that you can't "switch off" production in buildings like the cheese house or brew house. So if you don't have the required materials, trust me, you're going to know about it, because every few seconds there's another popup telling you that you don't have enough barley.
Why can't you buy barley, carrots, etc. for feed from trading wagons or other towns? Why are you limited to growing everything yourself? I have 80 horses running on Noble Breeding Feed, with one useless farmer worker who can't get everything planted and harvested fast enough. So yeah, badly designed flow there.
The blacksmith is also finicky. If you forget to tell him to forge something, he simply won't do anything. Why isn't there an option where you can tell him: "Hey, if there are materials, keep forging. If there aren't, wait for materials and continue working once they're available."
The game feels too "easy." There aren't really challenges where your horses get sick, die, or anything like that—or maybe I just haven't encountered it yet.
It's easy to make money. It feels difficult at the start, but once you find the quick loopholes, money comes in fast.
The breeding sometimes doesn't make sense. I can have a Superior mare and a Superior stallion and somehow get a Normal foal? The bloodlines should have a much bigger effect on the breeding mechanics.
When the game is done, it's done. There's nothing that really keeps you playing. I petitioned for the best breeds, bred them, defeated the army, and claimed my birthright. And now what's left?
No achievements? Or did I just not get them?

The Good

The game's principle is genuinely great. The idea and what it's trying to achieve are really good, and there aren't many games like this out there, especially to this extent.
It's a great game to pass some time.
If you enjoy breeding and maintaining animals, it does that quite well. It's not the best implementation I've seen, but it's really not bad either.
I will give some of the mechanics praise too. The time it takes for animals to grow up, the breeding system, and the quick filling of feed troughs and water are all great.

Overall
The game isn't bad. The principle and idea behind it are great; it's just very badly executed and designed in a lot of areas. I wouldn't call this a full release yet. To me, it feels much more like an Early Access game and should probably be labelled as such. Maybe some future updates will make me come back to it, but for now, I don't know. The UI is irritating, and a lot of the mechanics simply don't make sense from a game-design or logical perspective. There is a really good game hiding underneath all of this. It just needs a lot more refinement.
I've enjoyed this game, but the fisheye lens look makes me motion sick so I can only play short periods at a time! weird bc I don't usually get motion sick.
Devs you have a GOLDEN game here! As a horsewoman it's so hard to find anything with horses that is enjoyable and not a glitchfest! This is a rich, fun game with lots to do and plenty of horses! Please keep growing it, I'll buy all the DLC when it comes out lol. Might I suggest adding a racetrack at somepoint??? Also the availibilty to see the pedigree of the horses you're breeding would be EPIC..... Great game, excellent mechanics!!
I'm a big horse game lover, and this has horse management plus a lot of things you'd expect from survival or city builder games, plus store management, and an overarching plot about taking back your homeland. I'm 20 hours in and I'm pretty sure the only thing I really know how to do well is buy/train/breed/equip/sell horses and I'm missing all the more intricate "buy low sell high" market stuff for the store but...ponies. <3 I like it! I keep coming back to it! I'd recommend it. It's definitely a lot less repetitive than a lot of "pick the hooves, jump thru rings, scavenge for magical materials" type horse games so you can play it longer in one sitting.
Listen. Love the idea. But the game ain't finished yet even if they're selling it as if it is. As in, it feels immediately unpolished, a lot of it (especially UI) looks like placeholders and most importantly I ran into a game breaking bug within less than 10 minutes upon launching as I dutifully followed the tutorial and, even as someone who plays a bunch of early acces games on the regular, this is a bit too much junkyness for me. This was suppose to be a 1.0, it is not. Edit to respond to the dev: Sure thing. Right after starting a new game (going through the intro, which is just a pretty slowly appearing text on pitch black backround that cannot be skiped or even fast forwarded, and i would like to politely suggest to that be changed in the future) Anyhow. the game seems to finally begin, UI appears and first tutorial message pops up, but i started spawned into a black void which at the time i assumed was intended so that I don't just ignore the tutorial. that would be fair enough. Tutarial tells you how to acces tool wheel and to pick opening market in it. i buy my first horses no problem and as I exit marker I am no longer in the black void i am in what i assume to be the intended game map. again i assume so far that it intentional. but next step the tutorial asks to equip axe on the wheel so you can do the next tutorial task. that's when I discovered that upon equiping axe the whole map would turn into pitch black void again (with the letters of closed/open shop sign being the only visible thing fo some reason, but that's how i knew i could still move and the game didn't just crash) I discovered that the only way to fix this is to pick something in the tool wheel that will prompt any window to pop up (clicking esc to go to pop up menu wouldn't work the same tho) like the market window. then after exiting that window map would be visible normally again but the held item would switch back to default hand again and after equiping any tool everything would turn dark again effectively making it impossible to finish tutorial of the game. I'm pretty sure that what happends may be that the game display is set to go dark when player opens any other window like shop and such and it is set to turn visible back after such window is exited. but for whatever reason the game doesn't recognise which items of the tool wheel cause a new window to pop up so it responds by going dark whenever anything on the wheel is picked. that's my theory at least. so yeah not exactly something that should still be a thing in a 1.0. this feels like it should be early acces and if you put it up as such i propably wouldn't even refund it personally. it happends. but that's not what was advertised and that's a pretty sour taste in my mouth so I'm out. will check back on this game in a few yaers maybe to see if things cleared up. good luck on finishing the game. it could be amazing, but please be honest about it still being a work in progress.
I've played enough to finish the game and it was enjoyable enough for the price. That being said, I wouldn't exactly call this a horse focused game. Outside of manually training the horses (which is clunky and honestly isn't fun enough to do more than a few times), there isn't really much else you can do with the horses. Sure you can brush them but its not immersive at all. Honestly, the game read more as a resource management game than a horse game. Luckily, I also really like resource management games. Overall, I had fun but with a name like Medieval Horse Dealer Simulator, I expected more of a focus on the horses.
Another fantastic creation, solid buy, fairly priced
Our content below will not disappoint!! ATTENTION EQUINE LOVERS! ATTENTION BUSINESS LOVERS! ATTENTION ANYONE WHO WISHES THEY LIVED IN MEDIEVAL TIMES!! Your life is ripped from you like a tattered pair of panties... ahem.. or boxers! Thrust upon you like a bad jousting training camp... ahem... or a bad server at Applebee's! You flee like your butt is on fire, running through a desert looking for water... ahem... good enough we think... onwards! When you land... you find yourself doing what you love...caring for horses, breeding, running a shop, with aspirations of getting your stolen life back. A journey it will be, and the people you will meet... and... the excitement of being poor without having any identity! THE FUN! THE MYSTERY... THE... WAIT... ARE YOU SERIOUS!!....WTF! MY LIFE!!! So... yeah... after being forced to flee to a tyrant who wanted your life for themselves, you will work under the new life... until the time is correct to exact your revenge!!! You will work hard but fairly: Brushing horses, breeding, feeding, mixing, chopping, building, talking, creating, naming, and (deep breath) so much more... the content, execution, and visuals are off the hook... Travel, meet people, manage help, design your land, and plan until you have a solid foundation... then execute. Wait.... do we have a plan?!?! No plan.... Seriously?!?! In closing; No bugs in our first hour, easy to learn, fun to explore, and jump right in. Fantastic for anyone, and easy on any pc settings, fairly optimized! The only thing is to go into settings and turn on VSYNC, so your PC is safe, as the visuals can make your PC run a tad hot if it's older. If you are running current specs, max settings did nothing at all but perform well within specs. We hope they add even more horses and business content, such as farrier work or blacksmithing to make shoes... the options for growth can be endless! Do not get us wrong, tons of content as is..., but always fans will want more... MORE... ahem... You get it.
Rating: 9/10
and more than fairly priced for the time versus cost and hours you will get. NO HORSE SH*T! This is a really fun game. Not paid for, not compensated, just honest reviews with a humor beat (If there is humor to be had, LOL) Their other title is worth the price as well; you can view it here... https://store.steampowered.com/app/3098470/Arctic_Motel_Simulator/?curator_clanid=40055320 If you enjoyed our review, VISIT US by clicking below.
