Why they always fumbled with good things? They had a gem with FREE customization but they removed that? If this game was premium at 45-60$, I would have bought this, but NO, you have to chase the trend of make game live service freemium, what a joke

# Mecha BREAK: A Competitive Game That Somehow Forgot to Build a Competitive Scene Mecha BREAK is a spectacular-looking game wrapped around one of the most poorly thought-out competitive ecosystems I have seen in a PvP game. The actual mech combat can be fun, but almost everything surrounding it feels like the developers had absolutely no idea what kind of competitive game they were trying to build. Amazing Seasun had plenty of experience with online games, but they had never established themselves as developers of a serious arena-based PvP game. Yet Mecha BREAK came out swinging with ranked systems, competitive aspirations, and even the apparent ambition of building an esports scene almost immediately. And it failed hard. Instead of spending years building a healthy competitive ecosystem, establishing matchmaking, understanding player behavior, refining ranked progression, and then seeing whether an esports scene naturally develops, the game seemed determined to shove competitive gaming down everyone's throat from day one. The result is a competitive scene that is difficult to take seriously. ## Ranked Matches With Bots Having bots in a PvP game is already questionable. Having bots in ranked matches is absurd. Having bots in ranked matches while simultaneously trying to present the game as a serious competitive title is next-level stupidity. Then there is the complete lack of meaningful rank decay at the top. Watching a supposedly competitive leaderboard where players can sit in the Top 100 without meaningful rank decay is one of the dumbest competitive systems I have ever seen. A leaderboard is supposed to represent who is actively competing and performing well, instead Mecha BREAK can turn it into a museum exhibit. And somehow this gets even worse. ## The Blocklist Problem The fact that players can influence matchmaking through their blocklists is genuinely baffling. If your matchmaking system allows competitive players to manipulate who they are matched against by strategically blocking people, then your competitive integrity is already hanging by a thread. This becomes catastrophic in smaller regions. EU is the perfect example. When the active high-level population becomes small enough that the same players repeatedly encounter each other, top players can share blocklists and effectively manipulate the matchmaking pool. At that point, what exactly are we measuring? Mechanical skill? Team coordination? Who can manipulate the matchmaking system most effectively? Who has the right people blocked? Who can avoid the players they don't want to fight? Congratulations, you have accidentally turned ranked matchmaking into social engineering. This makes statements from Kris, who apparently believes he knows what gamers want better than the gamers themselves, increasingly difficult to take seriously. If this is the direction the competitive design is heading, perhaps making mobile games would have been the more appropriate career path, because whatever Mecha BREAK is trying to accomplish competitively clearly isn't working. ## The "Competitive Scene" Is a Joke The smaller the region, the worse this becomes. When you have fewer than 100 genuinely active players in a competitive region and those players can influence matchmaking through blocklists, the entire ranking system becomes questionable. You cannot build a legitimate competitive environment out of a population that small while simultaneously allowing players to manipulate the matchmaking pool. Yet apparently this is supposed to become an esports game. An esports game needs a stable player population, strong matchmaking, transparent competitive rules, meaningful ranking systems, serious anti-abuse mechanisms, and a healthy ecosystem. Mecha BREAK has managed to make several of those things optional. But don't worry, at least we have another overpriced cosmetic bundle. ## Progression and Currency Systems The progression system is another mess. There are too many currencies, too many systems, and too many layers between the player and the actual content they want. Instead of making progression feel rewarding, it often feels like the game is constantly trying to figure out which currency it can put between you and the thing you actually want. The player should be thinking: **"What do I want to unlock?"** Instead, Mecha BREAK frequently makes you think: **"Which ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ currency do I need for this?"** That is not satisfying progression. That is an accounting department disguised as a game. ## Communication From the Developers The communication doesn't exactly inspire confidence either. Competitive games require developers who understand that their community needs clear explanations, especially when it comes to matchmaking, ranking, progression, seasonal systems, and competitive integrity. Instead, players are frequently left trying to figure out what the developers actually intend. When developers appear convinced that they understand what players want better than the players themselves, the disconnect becomes even more obvious. A developer can disagree with its community, that's fine, but if the community repeatedly tells you that something is broken and your response is essentially "you don't know what you want," eventually you have to consider the possibility that the problem isn't the customers. ## Too Many Modes, Not Enough Players This might be the most obvious mathematical problem in the entire game. You have multiple game modes, ranked, different team sizes, extraction, different regions, and then a shrinking player population. What could possibly go wrong? Everything. Instead of concentrating the remaining players into a healthy matchmaking pool, Mecha BREAK spreads them across multiple queues and then apparently has to use bots to fill the holes. This creates a death spiral: **fewer players → longer queues → bots → worse matches → players leave → fewer players.** And then the solution apparently is another game mode. Fantastic. ## The Biggest Problem The biggest problem with Mecha BREAK isn't that the game is terrible. That's actually what makes it frustrating. There is a genuinely fun mech game buried underneath all of this. The combat can be fantastic, the mechs look incredible, and the core concept is strong. And yet the developers seem determined to surround that good foundation with questionable competitive design, bloated progression, excessive monetization, fragmented matchmaking, and a baffling approach to player feedback. The studio had never established itself as a serious arena PvP developer and nevertheless seemed eager to push Mecha BREAK toward esports immediately. Instead of building the foundation first, they tried to build the trophy room. Now the foundation is cracking: bots in ranked, no meaningful top-rank decay, matchmaking that can be influenced through blocklists, tiny regional populations, players manipulating who they encounter, multiple queues splitting the remaining population, progression systems designed like a spreadsheet, overpriced cosmetics, oversexualized character monetization, repetitive content, poor communication, and balance problems. Mecha BREAK didn't need to become an esports game on day one. It needed to become a good competitive game first. Instead, the developers tried to sell us the esports fantasy before proving they could build the ecosystem. The result is a competitive scene that increasingly feels less like professional PvP and more like a private lobby with a leaderboard attached. The sad part is that the mech combat deserved better.
All bot matches. Dead game because the devs don't know what to do with the gem they had. New event dropped yesterday. First time I had a match of mostly real players. Typing this now next day after playing a match of 12 players. 11 were bots and me. Uninstall this game is going now where.
