Qualified Recommend. If you are like me and have never played the game then absolutely by all means play it. But to start, the game is nearly unplayable as is on steam. Requires mods, to be a playable game but you can get it working pretty easy with the fixitall mod in the community guide section. After you get this working and I chose upgraded textures as well, the game looks and plays great. The story, the pacing, the shooting actually everything about this game was superb, top notch. I understand why it is so revered. I loved this game. If you are questioning whether to buy, as I said the game is in sad shape there is really no excuse, as the problems are quickly fixable. And they plan to remake the game. So I don't know tough call. I don't regret buying on sale for next to nothing. It was awesome. Totally lived up to the hype.

While having aged poorly in many regards, the gunplay and physics are top notch for a game of it's time. It's a pity I never played it when it was new. Highly recommend.
