Sound does not work in cutscenes at all. Does not matter how many fixes I install. Does fix a distorted echo but thats it. I dont advocate for piracy, but its all around better to emulate this. Great game otherwise.

This is a GOTY 2001 right up there with GTA 3, Halo and Serious Sam. And it rocks even today. Need I say more? Oh right, a remake by the original devs is coming. The game has 2 downsides: -Compatibility issues with Ryzen CPUs and modern OS (fixable with mods, see community guides, you also get widescreen support, even ultra-wide) -If you're playing without dying, dynamic difficulty eventually that turns you into a glass canon, except you're shooting nerf darts - but you can just let Max die on purpose a few times, and the difficulty will dial back. I'm pretty sure there's a mod for "flat" difficulty too. Aside from those obvious issues, you also may encounter puzzles and "labyrinths" that can be difficult to navigate. If you get frustrated, look up a guide. I remember my father reading a text guide online about that restaurant fire sequence - when the game was fresh, and I was about to go into 1st grade. Good times. With youtube guides it's even easier. Even without improvements from the sequel, the combat flows well enough, but it's more heavy on proper usage of cover compared to MP2. By the way, those slow-mo kill-cams with dynamic FOV are chef's kiss.
One of those games like Return To Castle Wolfenstein that makes you go "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this came out in 2001?!" With the community patch I had 0 issues, it absolutely aged like wine. If you're like me and enjoy a noir setting this is a must play even today.
Requires some effort to get running, but still fun enough if you're not bothered by old school game design
