Finally played Max Payne in 2026 after a lifetime of planning to do so since it's release in 2001. Glad I got around to it! An excellent game even today. Hats of to Remedy!

To this date still one of the best shooter games I've ever played. The story isn't too complex, but portrayed in a very unique and compelling manner. An absolute 'must play'-classic.
I played this game all the way through on the hardest settings when it originally came out. I still think the Payne series is amazing. The unfortunate thing is the audio on this Steam port is terrible. Nothing on the cutscenes and none of the fantastic narration. I've tried every setting. The game isn't worth playing in this condition. Too bad. Update: Re re-installed the fix all patch. The game now works. Great.

I had to download a hexidecimal editor to edit a dll in the files of this game because it's unplayable with Ryzen 3000 and 5000 CPUs, and even after that, the input delay made the game unbearable.
masterpiece
You have to play all the classics at least once in your life and this game is one of them. You'll need patches to get this game working properly on newer systems, here is a link.
