Best superhero game so far
Meu Deus!
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy delivers a masterclass in comic book storytelling trapped inside a deeply frustrating gameplay loop. It succeeds brilliantly as a narrative experience but stumbles hard the moment you pull the trigger. The Highs: Characters and Story The narrative and character work are the game's undeniable strengths. The overarching story is exceptionally well-written, capturing the distinct voices and dysfunctional charm of the crew. The dynamic between the Guardians feels authentic and credible, paying massive respect to their comic book origins. The constant banter, quiet moments, and chaotic arguments are consistently great, carrying the weight of the experience and making the team feel truly alive. The Lows: Gameplay and Mechanics Unfortunately, the moment-to-moment gameplay is a bad joke that actively undermines the narrative momentum. The pacing suffers immediately with a remarkably slow start, artificially prolonged by tedious jumping puzzles that bore the player rather than challenge them. Combat mechanics cross the line into complete implausibility. Star-Lord’s signature laser blasters feel severely underpowered, reducing encounters to tedious slogs where you must shoot a regular bad guy a million times before they finally drop. While the baseline movement system is okay, it ultimately feels clunky in practice. Most glaringly, the so-called legendary Guardian feels thoroughly inept during actual gunplay—a massive flaw for a game where shooting should take center stage and happen much more frequently. The game forces you to endure a mechanically boring shooter to experience a brilliantly written comic adaptation. It is worth playing for the banter and the heart, provided you have the patience to tolerate its clumsy, bullet-sponge combat.
There are plenty of reasons to dislike this game: - I encountered 3 or 4 softlocks during my playthrough. - The graphics are pretty mediocre. - There are some bugs popping up here and there that can block your progress. Luckily, a simple reload from the last checkpoint fixes everything and there are plenty of checkpoints. - The characters don’t have the original faces from the movie (I guess we all know why). So why is this still a positive review? Well… it was FUN! Especially worth it when you get it on sale. A good story and the same goofy humor from the movie. That’s what makes this game great. You can just feel every word Rocket says.))) P.S. When the time comes, save LUMMA! haha
This game surprised me: it's long, has great animation, story, sound and lots of extras. The combat isn't the most difficult, which I think works to not distract from the story. Great chill game for unwinding.
