i like the gunplay
This game follows that very familiar Bungie recipe. The lore and backstory of the game is phenomenal, the visual and sound designs are great, and the gunplay is very addicting. But is also has the same problems as their other games. The community is toxic, the game is 10x more fun with friends, there is some amount of FOMO and questionable decisions by Bungie HQ. There has been so much criticism and vitriol surround this game and its mostly been for the wrong reasons. This game was never the 'Bungie Killer' nor was it the reason that Destiny 2 was 'shut down'. Marathon is an extraction shooter that appealed to the Destiny 2 community. So many people bought the game with their own head cannon of what the game should/would be and then got upset when it was exactly that; a PVP extraction shooter. Buying this game was never going to 'save Destiny 2', and the negative reviews based on such an arbitrary reason are unfortunate. This being said I am glad the team is listening and looking more into implementing permanent PVE gameplay. There has been decent communication from the dev team and I hope the game continues to improve and grow. This review is already long enough so boom here's a condensed list of what I can think of: Pros

Night Marsh is an extremely fun map, and the Complex boss is the exact kind of extra POI mechanics that this game deserves more of.
The changes to grenades and bubble shields have been much needed and very impactful.
The priority contracts have been tweaked and are much less brutal/annoying.
The cradle is much quicker to progress than the previous faction milestones.
The characters are HOT.
Cons

The solo experience has been somewhat miserable with it being dominated by camping.
Cryo random queue is extremely hit or miss.
Cryo rng monitors allowing for spawn rushes seem mechanically unintuitive.
Exploits allowing vault breaker keys to be kept has been problematic and needs to be fixed.
Some of the armory trades still need to be tweaked as they are too expensive or are unlocked too late to be of any use.
There are plenty more pros and cons and I'm sure other more well written reviews cover them. Overall I'd recommend Marathon to anyone who likes extraction shooters and hopefully in the future there is more PVE for those interested. 9/10
weird communications about ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ children anally in 45 out of 50 games played or 50 out of 50. also sounds effects romanticizing and communicating the positive associations that hurting children bring in the the sex extortion of children. Multiple Profiles Associated in Emotional Layout of these Sound Ques. No Bueno. Documented Audio of Actual Children's Vocal Reaction to Forced Sex. Presented Positively. No Bueno. Does Not Bring Higher Being or Undistracted Activity. 49 HOurs, Not one game in peace.
This ♥♥♥♥ aint it. they invested 250million into a trend chaser game and havnt even gotten close to making any of it back. This game and its ceos thinking this game would be a good investment and killed off their one game that made them millions. I cant out of the goodness of my heart recommend this game and play it ever again.
This game has its ups and downs. On the one hand, it's not great for new players, but on the other hand, the aesthetic, gameplay is great, and I can see it having a good future. 7/10
It's the perfect game. ////GOOD LUCK////
Fun to play for someone like me who enjoys extraction shooters and plays them casually.
I'm terrible but I want to keep playing it - one of the coolest aesthetics ever
There's really nothing else like this game that makes you feel threatened by both enemy players and the environment in a way that still allows for skill expression and very high adrenaline moments. Its biggest fault is not having a story mode or some other easier mode to introduce new players to the maps and mechanics so they dont get turned away instantly. The hate is forced, if you let this game get its claws in you they WILL sink you.
I didnt think I would like it as much, but it has a solid foundation and the gameplay is actually very fun with how hard the enemies are, just needs some better updates and things added, one thing that I think is a negative is most of the guns look very blocky like they are made for roblox or something which might not be a negative for you but I think it makes the weapons look less cool, also I think the skins are kinda lame besides some of the rewards pass ones, they need better skins for the shells I also didnt like most of the skins they were making in destiny so maybe its because of the art team. Also the loading times to get into a game are absurdly long sometimes. Even with these issues I think its pretty fun and worth it (I got it when it was under $30)
