Surprisingly okay FTP economy as of August 30 2026
After absolutely brain-dead card games like Hearthstone or Legends of Runeterra, I had hoped to find a card game with depth and strategy here, unfortunately, just like in those two cheap games, there are only two paths to victory, either mindless, paint-by-numbers spamming, or playing a single high-mana card that decides the game. Why are card games developed for morons?
no better card game on the platform
I dip my toes back in every now and then when they actually use their own IP, I don't play standard anymore because the 3 year rotation has killed the balance and also it would mean I would have to play Universe Beyond cards. I hate that Wizards has turned this game into Fortnite, if they wanted to do this they should have only gone for fantasy IPs or some that matches the theme of the world of MTG. Ninja Turtles, Spiderman and Marvel has been a disaster for the game, they were so pose to draw in normies and failed. Lord of the Rings, DnD/Baldurs Gate is by far the best they done and I look forward to The Hobbit, but I look to the future and Star Trek is also a head scratcher. How hard is it to go and get Elder Scrolls, The Witcher, Game of Thrones, Warhammer Fantasy, Castlevania and World of Warcraft. Alchemy has also poisoned the well, it was so pose to just be a way to balance cards that were ban worthy but then they couldn't help themselves and injected Arena only cards which are usually incredibly powerful and can warp a game. I play only Brawl as it's the only commander style game mode and I just wish they put in a version where Alchemy was not aloud as I feel playing those cards is basically cheating. Can't really recommend anyone pay money and get into this as it feels like they will eventually move on to a new game which can actually have 4 player commander because not having playable commander is the games biggest draw back. I only recommend it to standard players who can't play in person or is digital only.
