Mad Father

An exciting story with dynamic gameplay. The best creation on the RPG Maker for me.

An old-school RPG with incredibly well-thought out lore which can be easily followed, the gorgeous graphics followed by the artstyle and soundtrack tie it together. Truly the only way one could understand the scope of this tale is by 100%'ing it lol! Regardless, it still leaves a few "mystery's" and "what-if's" to be considered, which I felt was a nice touch. Also, Aya is super cute.

1.ระบบการเล่น(3/5) นอกจากวิ่งหนีผีที่แค่เปลี่ยนห้องก็พ้นแล้ว ยังมีระบบQTEมาให้พอแก้เบื่อ ห้องหลายๆห้องมีจั๊มสแกร์เล็กน้อยหลังจากผ่านเงื่อนไขบางอย่างทำให้ฉากไม่จำเจ มีปริศนาพอให้ได้ใช้สมองแก้ แต่ก็ไม่อยากเกินไป เชื่อว่าเด็กประถมเล่นได้ แต่ระบบการเล่นโดยรวมก็ซ้ำๆเดิมๆ 2.เนื้อเรื่อง(5/5) นี่เป็นสิ่งที่ดีงามที่สุดของเกมนี้ การเดินเรื่องหลายๆอย่างให้เราเรียนรู้ไปพร้อมๆ Aya มีปริศนามีความลับมีจุดหักมุมให้น่าติดตามต่อ หลังจากจบเนื้อเรื่องต่อมี2โหมดให้เรื่องเพื่อเปิดเนื้อเรื่องต่อไป แนะนำให้เล่นมากๆเพื่อเก็บเนื้อเรื่องให้จบ เป็นฉากจบที่แท้จริง 3.ภาพและเสียง(5/5) หลังจากผ่านการรีเมคมาแล้ว ภาพมีความสวยน่ารัก(และน่ากลัว)เป็นเอกลักษณ์ ตัวละครมีอนิเมชั่นการขยับในระดับอัลตราสมูท เสียงเพลงและเสียงเอฟเฟคใส่มาได้อย่างลงตัวทำให้มีความรู้สึกให้อารมณ์ร่วมไปกับสถาณการณ์ในเกมเป็นอย่างดี(บทจะขนลุกมันก็ลุกจริงๆนะ) 4.ประสิทธิภาพ(5/5) เกมไม่มีบัค ไม่มีเกมเด้ง ต่อให้ใช้คอมจาก20ปีที่แล้วก็ยังเล่นได้ เกมกินสเปคน้อยมากและไม่เจอปัญหาระหว่างเล่นเลย ***9/10*** เกมสยองขวัญที่มีเนื้อเรื่องที่ดีน่าติดตาม การเล่นถึงจะไม่แปลกใหม่แต่ก็ไม่น่าเบื่อจำเจเกินไป ปริศนาถึงจะไม่ยากแต่แอบได้ใช้สมองเบาๆ เป็นเกมสยองขวัญที่ไม่กินแรงคอมที่ควรหามาเล่นให้ได้

This game holds a special place in my heart because for me it's like a childhood favourite and really impacted me. I remember watching someone play this game years ago and being able to play it myself years later brought me a really sweet feeling of nostalgia. Nostalgia aside I do genuinely recommend this game and consider it something of a gem. The art is really pretty to look at, the game has a compelling story that makes you root for Aya and continue playing so that you can find out what's really going on with her father and the gameplay + puzzles are overall fun and simple but not so easy that they're boring. This game is something of a classic and if you're looking for a short and sweet pixelated horror with an interesting story told through the eyes of a young girl I would very much recommend it! You're not going to get hundreds of hours of gameplay out of it of course, but I think it's worth your time to check out. If I had to think of ANYTHING negative to say about the game I would say that I don't know how to feel about the changes made by the remake as this is a remake of course, but a lot of that was remedied for me when I opened the game and it gave me the option to play the original version. Overall I say give it a try, you'll seriously regret it if you don't! :D

My first foray into the RPG Maker Horror genre, Mad Father, was a short yet solid entry. The gameplay, consisting mainly of solving puzzles and QTEs, is relatively straightforward. There were a couple of obtuse puzzles, but nothing obtuse enough to warrant consulting a walkthrough. Although it does have a few cheap jumpscares, I was pleasantly surprised by how Mad Father created genuinely suspenseful scenes aided by the simple, almost sepulchral soundtrack. I was also impressed by the pixel art, though the same could not be said for the non-pixel art. The story is also quite simple, yet there were a few twists that really pushed my final score of the game up by a point. Even so, I'm not sure it deserves the near-universal acclaim it seems to get. It seems to be nostalgic for many, and that may be skewing the scores a little. 7/10
