Luna Abyss

I really liked this. Fun gameplay, a really good clip of new abilities and weaponry, queer characters that are all wonderfully doomed, with not too long of a story, definitely recommend this if you have an NieR:Automata and (dare I say) Soma itch you need to scratch.

Enjoyable yet repetitive gameplay and environments with severely unfulfilled story potential. The vague and enigmatic lore building and dialogue promises a level of depth that is never properly explored. Character flaws and motivations are surprisingly shallow, with an underwhelming attempt to veil these shortcomings with the mysterious circumstances of the world. I was engaged early on by the themes of blind faith and the corruption of power, but ultimately found nothing new or unique by the ending, which was mid in every sense. I definitely had fun playing in general with the active 'puzzle mechanics ' for traversal and enjoyed the pattern of 3D bullet hell gameplay, but if you're coming to this for intelligent story payoff to match the tone, it may not be the best pick unless you're as short on sci fi FPS games as I am. environments especially got so repetitive i stopped even paying attention to the look of the game eventually. can only look at so many black and red pipes before i lose interest. I liked the idea of Fawkes as a main character as well, but by the end she proved extremely naive in a manner that really should have stopped being utilized ever since BioShock. if the real villain is faith itself (as it should be), then only having one ending and being unable to make the conscious decision to reject the plot forced on you, just kinda makes it hard to really be emotionally attached as you're essentially watching an edgy trainwreck play itself out
