So- After playing for 6 hours i can say its definetly not finished! But! It has a lot of potential- i love the interaction between the characters and all but i would like if the chats changed a bit depending on the character you are choosing
I haven't dabbled much in visual novels for a long time, so this game was quite the treat! It juggles serious topics and comedy pretty well for the most part. My first playthrough, I died in laughter. I thought for sure I'd wake the whole house up! It really feels like a chat server that never goes to sleep. I’ve played through each route up to their final day, so here are my thoughts. There's an in-game dictionary that highlights Vtuber jargon, which is great considering there's at least ten names being thrown around at any given time. I'm also not in the Vtuber sphere, so it's great not having to google search while playing. Though it is a bit frustrating to use when you have auto-chat on. You can only read the descriptions while hovered over the highlighted text, and any new chat entries scroll the window. I wish there was a way to click on the text and create a pop-up window that you could close when finished. Otherwise, the UI is great. The minigames help break up the monotony of being in the chatroom all day, though they’re not all available yet. I read a review from someone stating the emails were impossible to tell whether or not they were scams, and that's not true. There are absolutely tells, you just have to be thorough. Y’know like you would with your actual mail? There’s almost always typos in grammar or formatting that make it obvious. The sender and the email are also big tells. Just take your time and you’ll be fine. I’m still a bit confused on how the group chat sections work. For the most part, all the group chats are the same per playthrough so I would fast-forward, but I occasionally got a different one. I can’t tell if it’s RNG, specific days, or love interest based. It’s a bit too inconsistent to tell. I absolutely adored the variety when I got new ones, but those were fairly sparse. Otherwise, I’d fast-forward to get to the new DMs per route, which did hinder the immersion per playthrough. A popular criticism among other reviewers was that the group chats don’t seem to have any effect on routes. I think it would be interesting if they changed depending on how your chosen relationship progresses. Maybe that character shows up and interacts with you more in group chats after you start dating or something. Not sure what the devs have in mind, though. I think they’re fun as is, but a bit more variety to improve replayability would be great. The game becomes so much funnier when you start to figure out who the oshis are. Seeing them interact with each other and be absolute trolls is a huge highlight. Onto spoiler territory:
Forever Frog, Solo Lightracer, and MINK! are imo the best characters with the most going for them content-wise. They’re fleshed out and have unique personalities and troubles. Their calls are endearing, and I genuinely cannot wait for the game to release so I can see where their routes go. I had my suspicions on what oshis they were (minus Mink, her identity was not disclosed), and I was so pumped when I was right. Dolphin Daddy is also great but I felt he had a bit less content than the others, which is fine considering it’s EA. I’m just a little unsure on where his story is going. Pochima is sweet, but I don’t feel as compelled to her story as I am with the others.

WizardPit is a dumpster fire of a human being. Normally I’m into mean characters. In fact I always gravitate toward them because it usually is a sign that they’re the softest person under that facade. But he just feels angry at the world, and it was exhausting navigating him because it never stopped. The only time I felt how genuine he could be was during a group chat (raiders harass the player specifically, and WizardPit talks you down from making a mistake) that I didn’t even see while playing his route. At that moment, I thought he would be my favorite, but I was very wrong. That rare kindness is never seen again, which is sad because I craved some vulnerability with him. Instead, he’s constantly compared to Equinox and always on a rampage because of it. Also, his VA sounds incredibly like Zeta, so lemme tell you the heart attack I felt when I thought he WAS Zeta. I went through every stage of grief because I had just finished Equinox’s route prior. I think he needs a lot of TLC because while I know what the devs are going for, I find him insufferable and didn’t enjoy interacting with him. Maybe that’s because the best parts aren’t available yet, but I can’t help but want a little bit more from him.
That said, I can’t wait to see the final product! I had an awesome few days playing through this. I hope you‘ll give it a try too 💕
This one tool me a minute to actually get into. But once I gave it a chance, it really grew on me. I can't wait for more content to be added! Each interest has anywhere for 16-22 in game days of interaction time. It sounds like a lot, but it's not.
Absolutely addicting! Fun to play, and the voice acting is top tier! Playing this had me feeling giggly. The artwork is fantastic. Anyways sorry if i'm all over the place, i'm still reeling over how much I love this game!
This early access has been so fun! I love reading the replies and the 'streams' we get to see and interact with. I also like the email and homework mini games. It let's me get better at typing when I do the homework ones Lol. I can't wait to see what other features they'll add into it next!!!!
I would risk it all for Dolphin Daddy.
so i some how not quite understand why would the characters dm me, but... how could i resist a heart touching frog and a cocky wizard :3?
