The game this is originally based on is not one of the best point and click adventure games. It has major pacing issues. This game doesn't have that same issue at all, because it is much shorter. However, the overall gameplay and art that was reworked feels very disjointed. It took less than 3 hours to complete and neither the backgrounds (which were a lot better 10 years prior) nor the hidden object scenes (often object placing, not finding) were very fun. There are hundreds of other hidden object games to get your fix. Skip this one.
The story's the usual boring nonsese. The hidden object screens are okay, the rest of the game is way too simplistic. Constantly had problems taking items out of my inventory because they kept sliding back into it for some reason. I don't know if it's just my system but the game was visually buggy. First time playthrough: 2 hours 36 minutes 4/10

It took some consideration, but I ultimately chose not to recommend this game at retail price. If it's part of a bundle or goes for a major discount on a sale, then perhaps. The HOG scenes are pretty standard fare, as what you would typically expect from a HOG game. But what breaks it for me is the story and the puzzles sprinkled in-between. The premise of the story is rather standard and straightforward, but I find the plot progression to be absurd and at times, rather confusing. The puzzles themselves are fairly easy and posed almost no difficulty, so I felt they were more of hindrances. Again as with old HOG games, widescreen resolution isn't supported and I did suffer a few CTDs while playing the game.
I was enjoying the game but it crashed repeatedly. I tried playing by going into the lostcivilization. exe file and running it as the administrator but it still crashed every few minutes.
I usually like that kind of puzzle game, but here the story was really weak. And it deals really badly with a computer with multiple screen : playing in fullscreen mode, i still had my mouse moving over to the other monitor all the time and missclicking, really annoying glitch. The hidden object scenes were a bit blurry, probably because it wasn't meant for high screens resolution. And the puzzles were too easy.
The story part of this HOG (and the non-hidden object mini-games) was really simple and easy - plus sort of short. The hidden object parts were actually interesting - sometimes a "match" the object to something on screen and sometimes just a regular hidden object. I wish hidden object part was higher quality pictures - but everything was identifiable and competently done. One problem I would say is when you do a hint - it spills the entire solution instead of highlighting where to go. Because of the simplicity of the story line puzzles I would give it a "mehh" if I could, but I can't so thumbs up. Just to add - as with many of these games achievements (and cards) would be a good improvement - but I doubt that will ever happen.
It's not really great, but its ok to kill a few hours. The puzzles and all are really easy even on hardest difficulty. The biggest problem in finding things is the light beaming out of a picture that is blinding you and making things harder to see.
HOG Score: 3/10 - Story: Average and unoriginal. - Puzzles: Very easy. - Hidden Objects: Mediocre. - Graphics/Art: 2D. - Audio/Music: Dubbed?
