Look Outside is a survival horror RPG set in a single apartment building. A mysterious event turns anyone who looks out the window into grotesque monsters, leaving the world in absolute chaos. Scavenge the building to seek food, supplies, and weapons while encountering strange characters.

Saying this is my favourite game is an understatement. I am going to do everything I can to 100% this game to appreciate all secrets this game has to offer. Fantastic music that I find myself listening to outside of playing (would go hard on vinyl), and one of the coolest art styles I've seen in a game. When I got my first ending I cried because it was so beautiful, such a stunning game. 1000% reccommend!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

What an amazing game, this really is a hidden gem of 2025. If you are looking for a JRPG-style horror game, enjoy games such as Fear & Hunger, and polished RPG maker games, then give this one a try. A lot of the horror here comes mostly from body horror and the cosmic horror atmosphere. There is also a lot of survival horror mechanics (if you play on normal difficulty), where you have to manage your resources more, even saving! Like in old Resident Evil games. The pixel art in this game is incredible. What a beautiful art style, which can be quite shocking with the body horror. I loved all the designs; a lot of them are very creepy. There are so many unique creatures and encounters in this game; almost every room has some new-looking enemy sprites. The OST is pretty good as well, and it fits well with the atmosphere. The save system in this game is also so unique. I have not seen anything like this, where you get more rewards the longer you go on without saving. The only downsides I would say are that the battles are very basic, it's your classic JRPG, you have health, stamina (mana), and just attack, use stamina, and heal after battle. But I think the variety of enemies you meet really makes up for it. If you have even a slight interest in this game, go and pick it up without looking up any spoilers; it's a really worthwhile and unique experience.
Description
Look Outside is a turn-based survival horror role-playing game. It was made with RPG Maker but with so many added features and bespoke assets it is genuinely hard to tell. You wake up with a weird urge to look outside... and quickly learn that anyone who does so turns into a monster. You have 15 days to figure out what to do. You can recruit teammates, explore the building, solve puzzles, fight an impressive array of unique and horrifying monsters, play video games, cook meals, craft items, the list goes on and on. Interesting time system: it only advances when doing activities in your own apartment or when discovering a new area. There are 13 different endings depending on your choices (not counting the various premature game overs).
Pros

Peculiar retro art style with perfect eldritch vibes
Excellent retro soundtrack
Stellar monster design
Huge replayability
Clever story with very satisfying plot twists (
the final piece of knowledge which you must kill Sybil to obtain floored me because it made sense, was worth the build-up, and tied up most loose ends
)
Impressive body horror and cosmic horror content
Rewarding exploration, with a ton of secrets to uncover
No filler content or petty fetch quests

Cons

Punishing difficulty even in the easiest mode (Explorer)
Steep learning curve unless you use guides
Bleak atmosphere, sad events, and mostly horrible endings, YMMV
No map system when rarely has the need for one been felt more intensely

Verdict
Look Outside is a gift that keeps on giving. If you're into JRPGs, survival horror, or retro gaming, you owe it to yoursef to play this gem. At full price (10€) it's a total steal. On sale... what are you waiting for?! Look outside... it's beautiful.
I simultaneously appreciate what this game is, and can't recommend it. First off, the good! The art is spectacular, so much detail put into the enemy designs, expressions, and animations. The writing is fun too, so many little details. The rest of the game feels designed to waste your time. Party members absolutely shouldn't be this hard to get in any RPG. I killed the first one you can recruit because they attack you the first time you meet and have to be pacified with an item that you can miss picking up. I'm on my way to two more, but I only figured this out thanks to occasional guide checks. This makes encountering anything new not scary, but sigh inducing. I have no idea what or who can be recruited otherwise, so I guess I'll click the most understanding kind options. Except sometimes it punishes you for doing that, further wasting your time and effort. So, I'm on day four, and have found two recruitable members who were both in the open and clearly friendly. Except one of them required payment and got kidnapped, and the fight to get them back is too hard with two members. Great! I've played for almost ten hours and have lost about three to four hours of progress due to the save system as well. I know I could turn on explorer mode, but that also lowers combat difficulty, which I could navigate fine if I had more party members. Speaking of which, combat stinks! Weapons break all the time, fight visuals don't reflect difficulty, and unlike the rest of the game, getting through fights is often just mashing attacks and items until you win. It's tedious, especially when many fights have me asking myself, could I have avoided this? Speaking of avoiding things, how about them status conditions! Are you brushing your teeth and showering? Talking to friends enough? Who knows unless the game tells you, because these mechanics have no status trackers. If you enjoy the art, cool, but the gameplay is so anti-fun that you will feel more fulfilled doing actual chores.
A fantastic game made with passion and originality. It features a compelling story, excellent RPG mechanics and gameplay, and outstanding characters and music. It's slightly held back by bugs and performance issues, but I still highly recommend playing it.
