Love this game. It's simplicity makes it relaxing and enjoyable to play. I put over 25hrs into it since I bought it a while back. :)

Littlewood is a very addicting casual game. It is a good game to play if you are looking for something to easily pick up and put down. It is very easy to get back into every time you pick it up. The art style is super cute and the characters are funny.
After close to 80 hours, I have 100%ed this game. Its a really neat gem that i did enjoy, not without its drawbacks. It is an addicting game where you are rebuilding the town and collecting as much stuff as you can to unlock upgrades, items and buildings, build relationships with people and unlock a small story underneath it all. You use skills to collect items though mining, farming, woodcutting, fishing being the main ones plus a few extras to add diversity to your game such as crafting and Tarot-Monster. The lore goes flat very fast, the interesting backstory in books you collect and the in game cut scenes show potential for a story, but it is never really shown any further then that. It comes across as there was going to be more but it will never be told. It really does make the story feel half told as there was so much here that could be expanded on so easily, but it wont ever be. You unlock two major places at endgame, one is a forge that you hardly use but for a few upgrades and one is a place where you get a fun item that I used once and it holds no other purpose to ever go back again. Getting the final place was almost like a empty achievement and I felt there could of been more there or even something to do there to add to it. Characters that have major leaps in development tend to have their auto dialogue back to a mood that shows that the cutscene meant nothing at all. So your investment of raising levels in friendship seeing anything further beyond a cutscene or book will be fruitless. Only after you are married you will see a few extra parts of character development, however it is very flat. Levelling everything to level 99 is fruitless as by the point of the game you don't need the upgrades, the only benefit is that if you were to do a second play-through, you would go hard on mining and woodcutting to level 99 as fast as you could as they are the only ones that have any benefit to allow you to go 100% completion easier. The fact the fish spawns are continuously gimped was the major crutch for 100% completion, You are also bound to a RNG that is painful before you hit that level 99 woodcutting/mining trophy. After then as soon as you get them the game is trivialised and your just grinding because achievements. I feel that overall this game had the potential to be more then it was, yes its now considered old in terms of release as I've picked it up and played it now in 2024, but for any one new coming into this today, it's a good game for a sale price and good to pass time, but don't throw yourself deep into the Wikipedia for anything more, because it's not here. There are no new updates, the developer has been working on a new game and has not indicated that he will be back to throw any more updates at this game at all. While that's not a bad thing or should be an expected thing for a game that can be completed with a start and an end, it's clear that there is a lot missing here in terms of story and features that ultimately left a bit of a empty feeling. The fact that things don't need to be fully levelled up because the reward is something you get too little to late to enjoy the benefit really makes it feel like an empty achievement and at the end your just bankrolling the currency because you've bought everything and it's now dead inventory. I feel like I've complained a lot about this game here, but again I did enjoy it and recommend to those who like these nice and chill cosy games. Just don't go in expecting a "stardew" experience here. Still major props to the dev making something that was entertaining and fun and if a sequel or an update comes out to expand on the story of Solemn, I wouldn't turn it down to experience it.
I love cute games with pixel graphics. This gem is so up my alley, it is glorious. Really enjoyed my playthrough! Characters all stand out and have their unique quirks. The only negative I would like to include is that there isn't much content.
I love absolutely everything about this game. My 7yo also enjoys playing it with me. It's very accessible - you can play on your keyboard with only one hand, and the parts that require quick reaction times are pretty forgiving. It's very cozy and easy to relax with. I think the art is cute, the music is pretty, the characters are very different and unique, and the lore is interesting without being "too much" (both intensity and volume). IMO the only improvement I see is removing the "dewdrop" icon over the chests once you've completed all of the upgrades for it. (e.g., remove the "dewdrop" icon over the upgrade chest in the General Store once all of the General Store upgrades have been completed.) It's a little annoying to keep checking the same chest every other day because you've finished some of the chests but can't remember which ones.
I had this game in my library for a long time, and when I was in a slump, I decided to give it a go. I am glad I did as I am thoroughly enjoying the game. Most of the characters are enjoyable, the day is based on your actions, not time, it is cute, and I find the progress great. Some people have complained about it being too slow at the beginning...but I like that. It really paces out the game really well so at the end game you aren't feeling like you have nothing left to do. I am quite a way through the game and still have things to collect and complete (barely). The slow progress keeps you from speed running the game, and I like that. If you like similar games, like Stardew, you will enjoy this game. I am a HUGE Stardew fan and I think this game did better on a few huge details: I actually have a hard time deciding between who I want to romance, the UI and land altering is great, and there is no combat. One thing I like about Stardew more? The cut scenes...I love the story of this game but all of the cut scenes lack personality...all "beginning of day" scenes happen in the town square and all "dates" happen in the same place by a bench in the port town...the characters are so unique and fun, it would be great to see this as an opportunity to explore that. Worse part of the game...apparently it has been abandoned...so no future DLC...and lets face it...I think they need a Combat part 2 where they go down below...
lovely little game!
