About
LIGHT-BRINGER is a first-person exploration horror game with psychedelic visuals and a harsh noise soundtrack. Explore multiple levels featuring puzzle platforming elements and hidden items, while chaotic FMVs play in sync with the music, creating an inescapable audiovisual nightmare that continuously changes as you explore it.
The game explores Lucifer as a metaphor for humanity's capacity for malice. Platforming sections are interspersed with cutscenes during which Lucifer will show you what he has done, and ask you to join him.
Environments and in-game videos depict the resurgence of Christofascism in the United States of America, and how its proponents publicly and privately act in ways that are directly contradictory to the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.
Love each other.

This is a hard game to play- not because of the subject matter, but because it is actually nauseating. Light-bringer hardly constitutes as a video game and instead seeks to critique, what the author sees as, "American Christian Nationalism," using an excessive amount of cheap shock value imagery of flashing lights, irregular camera zooming, small field of view, Christian symbolism, and real world tragedies. There is a fine line regarding the amount of cheap shock tricks that can be used before that video game becomes physically repulsive, and Mared Jurphy crossed that line many miles ago. The argument of this game essentially boils down to, "American elite 'prophets' promising monetary success to their followers are ironically false prophets." At least I think, the second chapter isn't possible to beat. I have my own reservations on this argument which I find rhetorically repulsive, but that is the exact issue; Light-bringer is something that belongs in an essay, not a video game. To sit through a game where Lucifer is telling you that he is behind the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which is insinuating that Truman gave into the devil's vices, is an argument so ignorant and disgusting that it was shocking an American had said it. The bombings saved millions of lives by circumventing Kantaro Suzuki's Operation Ketsu-Go and forced Hirohito to surrender Japan before they could sacrifice their entire population for, "some ardent glory." I appreciate the idea of this "game," but its literally nauseating "game play" coupled with its fallacies & ignorance with its core argument detract from the point and only seek to pull you in with heart strings, and for that reason, I couldn't recommend this game to literally anyone. I give it a 3/10.

This game evoked three powerful questions while playing. Is it over yet? How long until it is over? Why isn't it over yet?

Honest to god I don't know how you did it but you managed to make the worst game I've ever played in my entire life
Oyun, psikedelik görseller ve sert bir müzik eşliğinde birinci şahıs keşif korku oyunudur. Amerikan Hristiyanlığının çeşitli yönlerini yansıtan bulmacalar ve labirentlerle dolu 3 boyutlu platform ortamlarını keşfedin, gizli Kutsal Kalpler'i toplayın ve Lucifer'in ayartmalarına karşı koyun.

Headache. That's what this game gave me...a headache. It's like talking to that one relative that has been off of their medication for way too long. I get that it's trying to make waves for discussion and to prove something. But yeah...overall just...bad. And not as thought-provoking as some might think. As someone else said, people will either be scared or get mad by playing this.
Playtime is low because I played the itch.io build. Game runs fine on Linux, no extra steps required to play. This is a very visually noisy game. I played through all three parts in a single sitting and regret not giving my eyes a break in between parts. This is worth the roughly two hours it takes to experience, but please don't repeat my mistake. The only criticism I have is that mouse sensitivity felt extremely off. I had to increase it through hardware to get a decent turn speed.
