About
Layers of Fear is the definitive edition of the award-winning series crafted by Bloober Team - the game that put them on the map as modern-day masters of horror. Built on Unreal Engine 5, it combines Layers of Fear, Layers of Fear 2, and all released DLC, along with new chapters that tie every story together into one seamless, nightmarish whole.
Face the madness. Finish the story.
Layers of Fear - Venture through a sprawling, ever‑shifting Victorian mansion as The Painter - an artist consumed with finishing his magnum opus. Search for the tools and memories needed to complete your masterpiece while reality bends and decays all around you.
Inheritance DLC - Return to the mansion as The Painter’s Daughter and confront the emotional scars your father left behind. Explore childhood recollections twisted by fear and guilt, revealing a haunting legacy of love, artistry, and madness passed down through generations.
The Final Note DLC - Experience the collapse of the family from The Painter’s Wife point of view. Uncover the hidden truths behind the tragedy and learn how devotion, resentment, and sacrifice reshaped the story you thought you knew
Layers of Fear 2 - Enter the spotlight as The Actor venturing aboard a mysterious ocean liner to take on the role of a lifetime. Receive guidance from an unseen director (voiced by Tony Todd), whose intense methods blur the line between reality and performance.
The Final Prologue - Step behind the camera as The Director to try and rescue a doomed production. Guide the cast and crew, confront your fears, and pay the price for your ambition as the set gradually succumbs to chaos and despair.
The Lighthouse Chapter - Assume the role of The Writer, seeking to tie every chapter of the series into one final narrative. Explore an abandoned lighthouse that conceals the truth behind each story and piece together the thread connecting them all.
Deep Exploration – Immersive first‑person gameplay that blends story-driven exploration, environmental puzzles, and psychological horror.
A Web of Obsession – The interwoven stories of three creators: The Painter, The Actor, and The Writer, each consumed by their craft and willing to pay the ultimate price for it.
Next‑Gen Visual Atmosphere – Rebuilt visuals with HDR, ray tracing, and dynamic lighting that deepen atmosphere, enhance realism, and make every flicker of light feel alive.
Unsettling Original Score – A haunting original soundtrack by award‑winning composer Arek Reikowski, weaving fragile beauty, emotion, and unease into every scene.

I wish I had played this before Cronos, this game has some genuinely fantastic visuals and sequences in bursts. But overall the complete lack of engaging gameplay and a mediocre mix of narrative stories make this game feel like a chore to play through at many points. If I had found the narrative (and more importantly the depth of the characters) to be interesting it would be a very different story. The painters story specifically is such a slog for me narratively as it 4 hours just to continually learn the painter is a terrible person without really anything to make them or the game interesting as the only depth is he's the "tortured artist" stereotype. Which is crazy coming from Silent Hill 2 remake in which you directly do play as a protagonist that is also a tortured terrible person, but there's so much depth and intrigue into that character that this game doesn't even scratch the surface of.
Confesso que Layers of Fear 2 nunca me conquistou da mesma forma.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 30: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Absolutely remarkable! I really enjoyed Layers of Fear. Bloober Team's game demonstrates, with every passing second and minute, the meticulous care the developers poured into every aspect: story, atmosphere, gameplay, and visual and audio design.
i don't car what people say about this game. it is beautifully stunning, and yes the story is a bit rough and stuff but it is still a really good game. i love how it collects both 1 and 2 plus the dlc and combines them all into one continuous story. 9/10 - highly recommend :D
A neat opportunity for fans to get both games in one reworked package, but despite the improved graphics the mediocre experience stays vastly the same.
Don‘t be fooled: 2023‘s version of Layers of Fear is no greatly revised and completely overhauled remake like in the cases of Resident Evil 2 or Silent Hill 2. It‘s more like a sort of compilation that puts both main Layers of Fear games plus the DLC Inheritance and a couple hours worth of new story content together into one more or less cohesive and connected experience with via Unreal Engine 5 updated visuals. That approach in itself is a decent chance for newcomers and longtime fans alike to (re-)experience the complete Layers of Fear franchise. The problem that turns this thing basically into a love-it-or-hate-it-affair is not the mostly unaltered content, but, just as in the originals, the gameplay itself. What the game does really well is building up a certain atmosphere. You can count the actual jumpscares in this whole thing on one hand (meaning that when they do happen, they are quite effective admittedly), but the real strength is the psychological aspect to it. The Horror is not achieved through buckets full of blood, tons of gore or clumsy „Boo!“-moments. The unfolding of the tragic and emotional stories is the real nightmare fuel and all that the gameplay really does is basically visualizing the main character‘s descent into madness and death by leading you through increasingly ghastly and unsettling environments that represent the protagonist‘s state of mind. This combined with the sparsely placed but actually threatening enemy encounters makes the game really effective in a sense that it doesn‘t really outright scare you but almost constantly gives you the heebie-jeebies for 12 hours straight. If that‘s all you‘re looking for in a game, then Layers of Fear is not the worst choice you can make, even though the plot of the first part is a lot more relatable and a lot less outlandish than in the second, making the latter half suffer from a somewhat significantly decreased and muted creep factor compared to the earlier chapters. But, as you might have already guessed and maybe experienced by yourself in countless similarly designed games of this particular genre, the actual gameplay stands in stark contrast to the rich atmosphere and is simplistic and shallow to the point where it just becomes so boring and frustratingly annoying at times that it undermines the otherwise strong Horror: Layers of Fear is the core definition of a restrictive, monotonous walking simulator, where literally all you do is slowly walking straight ahead until you reach the end of the game, undertaking only a minimal and most basic amount of barebones interaction with the gameworld in the process. And this is the point where opinions on Layers of Fear (and most likely Horror walking simulators in general) will radically differ. For me personally, the unengaging and virtually non-existent gameplay distracts way too much from the undeniable strengths of the game while at the same time Layers of Fear is just not quite scary or creepy enough to give a good excuse for that and be truly enjoyable. ______________________________ LAYERS OF FEAR (2023) Genre: Survival Horror / Modern Adventure / Walking Sim Release: Q2 2023 ( ) 0/8 Simply one of the worst games ever made.
