Non-VR Review
Nice, enjoyable, pretty, very Zen flying game. As you've seen from the trailer or other reviews, you fly around as a lantern spreading "color" to villages and the countryside. Color is a metaphor for happiness. Very basic/skeletal story, but a pleasant one. Simple controls, although it might take a little getting used to if you haven't "flown" before. I used a controller and never tried kb+mouse. A few notes: - There is no autosave or manual save. The only saved status is how many seasons ("levels") you've unlocked. But when you start a season, you start with a blank "canvas". - Some of the sign stones are hard to find, but Steam user Errise has a nice guide for it. You have to get pretty close to the sign stones to see them. Apparently with some gamepads you'll get a rumble effect if you're close enough. - For completionists, it's pretty easy to complete 100% (don't be fooled by the percentages), but consult the guide if you can't find all four sign stones on a given level, and be sure to get each of the three achievements types before you exit the level:

"Color is returning [...]" Color a certain percentage of the level. Will almost certainly unlock while you work on:
"Deciphered the temple [...]" Find all four sign stones and then approach the temple to read the message.
"Spread color and joy [...]" Color a larger percentage of the level; might require some additional coloring after you've deciphered the temple.
After you've gotten those, three, then you can proceed to the next level, which you do by coloring enough of each village, as indicated by the village's tower. There will be an obvious cutscene when the exit is available. Once you go through the exit, you get the "Completed the level" achievement and unlock the next season (so you can safely exit the game with your progress saved). Special Note: You probably won't have this problem, but in the Autumn level, there's a door that you might think ends the level, but actually just leads to another area and village. I had a heck of a time getting the "Spread color and joy" achievement because I'd avoided entering the gate and missed out on about 1/4 of the level!

Então, Música durante o gameplay é um pouco curta; Controles são ruins; Causa tela azul da morte( por isso meu contador está baixo); Não é divertido nem relaxante;
Can't play in VR very long before feeling sick, especially near objects/terrain (too much speed?). In non-VR it's OK (although it feels that the FOV is too narrow) In VR, no Vive controller support. It would have been great: aim were you want to go, use the trackpad to control the speed. I suspect it would have alievated some of the sickness too because the direction of the movement would have been more predictable. Mouse/Keyboard is unusable. The controls are too sluggish. Without some sort of immediat feedback, you always turn in the wrong direction (looking up/down while trying to turn left/right and vice-versa). The art is clean but there is a lot of popping at distance especially given how low-poly the game looks. The music is nice but a bit repetive and it doesn't loop nicely (abrupt change from end of the track to its beginning). All in all, the game could be nice and relaxing but it's too unpolished.
DON'T buy this game if you intend to play it on VR*. It will give you THE MOST INTENSE MOTION SICKNESS. That said, Lantern is great to play on a wide monitor, it's a peaceful experience. The goal is to recolor the world in each of the four seasons by flying around and light up villages and things. Each season has its own map which is quite large, count around 45mn on each one. You can't die and there is no timed challenge. In each season, you can also unlock an additional achievement for recoloring enough of the place (around 90%), and in addition they have four rune stones to find that unlock a fortune cookie haiku on a board. I really enjoyed to complete the 100% (it took me 5h), finding the four stones can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1327839446 Technically, it's Unity Engine, so it's not as smooth as UE4, but it's OK. The low poly graphics are nice but not exceptional. The controls feel a bit weighty, but in final the overall experience is pleasant. Each seasons has also its own traditional chinese style music and the sound design is rather well done. I recommand Lantern for those who enjoy chilling and exploring environments, also for those who appreciate chinese culture, feng shui, yi ching, fortune cookies, etc. 7/10 *PS: for those who are stuck with the game that launch everytime in VR instead of normal mode, go in game install directory and delete openVR dlls.
Janky visuals, uneasy control on joypad, scenery-coloring gameplay.
Awful. Mouse control doesn't work smoothly, there is no way to save the game during the epsidoes, so you have to stick to the end of an episode in order not to lose the whole progress of the episode and start all over again. The most annoying thing is that the game doesn't give proper clues what the goals are. In the end, you fly around paint gray landscapes colourful and coincidentially trigger cut scenes that allow for some portals to open and you to finish the episode. But if you don't coincidentially trigger the cut scene you fly around forever. "Lantern" is supposed to be a rather short game, but I already wasted four hours on the last episode without being able to finish it. It's a true example of how "indie game" equals "amateurish game design". Don't play the game even if you should get it for free, it's a waste of precious lifetime.
“Once upon a time, there was a very sad princess. She felt so unloved and unhappy, that everything around her became grey and lifeless and the entire land was deprived of its colour and joy. Our fable begins when a single, lonely lantern was lit in a faraway village…” Everywhere the lantern touches or flies close to, suddenly becomes colourful. Its actually nice to fly high and then back down to float across houses, trees, water, etc, and create a beautiful scenery. Once you get the hang of the controls, it's very relaxing.
Excellent, si vous avez aimé Flower sur PS3/4 vous allez aimer celui-ci. quand tout est coloré c'est juste magnifique. Parfait pour se relaxer avec la petite musique, je vais y jouer souvent
Be the light, bring warmth and colors into this colorless and monotonous world. Calm down and enjoy this great game
