Originally went in with low expectations, but this game surprised me in every way. From story, characters, gameplay, audio and visuals; it's all excellent. I really enjoy the art style for this game, as well as it's setting. I came to enjoy the card battles after learning how it all works. The horror aspect while not very prevalent, is something I eventually started to like. I hear it will be more significant in future episodes, which is exciting. What really had me hooked was the soundtrack and characters. All of the characters are great in all ways, like visual design, writing and voice. Major props to the voice actors, they are very talented. The soundtrack is exceptional, especially the main theme used for the opening movie. I don't really have any criticisms or complaints, but they appear to be very onboard with feedback so I imagine future episodes will be even better than what I already enjoyed with just Episode 1. The fact it's not fully released might deter some for now, but I truly believe it will be completed in a reasonable time. Massively recommend this game to anyone who enjoys death game visual novels, like danganronpa or your turn to die. This review is pretty vague, but I wanted to avoid specifics and just generally say I was impressed with what kumitantei had to offer.

Well the game currently is not finished, I do think I can check yes to Steams question “Do you recommend the game”. This was one of the best experiences with visual novels since I played DDLC back in 2019. I feel like my only main gripe with the game is the free time events felt a hollow, I was really excited to learn more about my favourites and well there where some utterly adorable FTE’s, I feel like the system could use some touch ups for Episode 2. Still the characters are amazing, the art is amazing, music is pretty good and it feels very unique. If anyone says this game is “Knock off Danganronpa” or “A Fangan with a price tag” they either didn’t play the game, or are being disingenuous. The prologue I think was a solid 8.5/10 and Episode 1 was a 9/10, set the bar really high for the future releases. Hopefully I can edit this comment in the near future with more up to date information on Episode 2. Thank you Dev’s for making such an amazing game <3

After 9 total hours completing through the first chapter of the game i must say, i was quite impressed! i have played all three main danganronpa games, and seen the anime (on xbox only so sadly not on steam) and this was an extremely faithful, yet unique perception of the killing game genre i have grown to love! the only glaring issues i ever had with the game were very personal, things such as...some of the art being less than consistant at times, to the dialogue and likes and dislikes of some of the characters being extremely outlandish at times and overall becoming minor annoyances around the 5 hour mark. HOWEVER. i think that if you are looking for a new danganronpa experience with new mechanics, silly references to the series, and an honestly very diverse cast. i would HIGHLY recommend getting this game. i am incredibly excited for future chapters, and cannot wait to see what plots the game has to offer.
Words cannot describe how impressed I am with Kumitantei OSS, but I still want to give it my best shot! In spite of its obvious influences, it takes existing formulas and makes them so fresh and interesting, but the best part of it all is its additions to that existing foundations. The card battling is such a natural fit into a killing game mystery visual novel, elevating and making tense moments even more so! The cast is INCREDIBLE, lovingly enhancing fun tropes and adding more to them as it did with the gameplay concepts before hand. Hats off to the voice actors as well for really fun performances, Shigure Moichi and Himari REALLY knocked it out of the park! But my absolute favorite part is a major spoiler, [spoiler] throughout the episode you're slowly fed horrific news segments and old tv interviews, introducing a VERY unsettling horror subplot that I cannot wait to see explored in episode 2. [/spoiler] If you are a fan of the obvious inspirations there is absolutely no reason to not give Kumitantei a chance. So hyped for episode 2.

Having played episode 1 to completion I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone even moderately interested in detective/Murder mystery games. The cast are all endearing and unique with strong personalities that clash in interesting ways. Gameplay is solid and just as, if not more, engaging than its contemporaries with an intriguing plot that I'm eager to see developed over time
I liked it, FIND IT, I wish it was a lil more different from danganronpa but what is here is a good start with cool cutscenes
Having a great time so far! Glad to see there's a solid amount of voice acting involved (can't wait for the day these games are 100% voice acted) and a great spread of absolutes. My favourite so far is the Bee absolute and the Meteorologist (due to their secret relationship with the Prosecutor). Can't wait for more episodes!
