I really want to like this, it's got a good gimmick and the writing is fun but it's soo sloow. The novel minigames quickly become repetitive with how many enemies you need to fight and how big their health bars are, and attacking and defending and traversing all just take a little bit too long. I'd like to give the game somewhere in between a thumbs up and down if I could. There *is* a lot to like here but personally I'm struggling to get to it

Look I haven't finished the game yet (27% through according to my save file) and I will be honest; if the first thing you look for in an rpg is story you're gonna find the game fairly lacking. However, the soundtrack, art direction, and most importantly, the extremely fun and creative combat more than make up for that. Also even if the plot feels deliberately derailed from the jump and is generally maybe a bit too surreal and definitely a lot too unfocused, the game is still funny and witty like any good quirky Earthbound-inspired jrpg should be. I'm a sucker for Warioware and if you are too, you're gonna have nothing but blast after blast working your way through this title.
