Design and customize your store, and achieve your dreams of running a unique emporium of your very own.
The secret is, you need people to choose YOUR location to spend their hard-earned money. What makes your store the best? Do you have the best shelf-stockers in town, or the most convincing salespeople? Maybe you simply have well-targeted online ads. There are many ways to make your store stand out!
Watch your customers closely! Study their behavior and figure out what makes them pull out their wallets. Then, do more of it!
Humanize your brand by hiring humans — the right ones! Conduct interviews with prospective employees to find the best mix of skills and culture fit. Negotiate salaries, manage shifts, and train people up so they thrive and grow with you
Why settle for one shop, when you could run a whole chain? Invest money in advertising to bring in greater throngs of customers; rebrand your store’s interior design; and keep optimising stock and pricing to maximize your profit. If it all pays off, you might be able to incorporate and expand into multiple stores across the city!
It’s your store, and you can run it how you want. Micro-manage every detail and constantly adjust for optimal profit, or just watch the ebb and flow of your perfect masterpiece. You’re your own boss and you can play your own way — it’s good to be the king.

Look, The developer is working on another game already, This game is Pretty great in its current state, but it really could have used some updates ill admit. That being said It was a solo indie developer 100%. got to give credit where its due, that being said alot was learned in the process and it is able to be redone, but better. I dont necessarily recommend purchasing the game unless its discounted. but it is quite challenging to a point. there is alot to learn, and i personally really enjoy the gameplay. but due to the fact this it will not recieve any kind of updates i have to warn you that you get what you will. I am excited for the second already.
I think it's understable to get angry at the developer for "abandoning the game" BUT there might be a good reason for it.
You see this game has very very good aspects like you can not only run a shop but an entire company empire and even invest in real estate. But this game has also limits in the technical aspects and there are many quality of life features missing that makes playing it a chore of repeating the same steps over and over because you cannot automate them easily. I guess with the technical foundation of the game that's not easy to fix. So he might as well started developing the same game from scratch but much better this time with the money he earned. If the developer just abandons the game they often would announce an entirely different game. Because those developers who are just scammers in disguise won't expect you to fall into the same trap twice. But the fact that Freaking Games is just starting to develop the same game again is giving me hope. I think they are fully aware nobody will buy KoR 2 if it is the same or worse than KoR. I think I would be 100% angry if they just abandon King of Retail community and develop a game about zoo keeping which is just an lazy asset flip. But I really have hope they realized it's not possible to update KoR into being an fully amazing game so they decided to get a better technical foundation and then create the ultimate retail empire game.

Every market we collect.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.44/day in the week to Aug 4 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Im not going to lie this game looks terrible. This games looks like its made by an ai. The tutorial if you can even call it that is just a power point presentation. The player's or humans looks terrible like they are made of play dough and why does the customization look terrible the people have the most ridiculous outfits, their body types are not accurate, their expressions are soulless. This game is obviously just a cash grab slop game. Please never by this and dont get tricked by the good reviews please play anything better.
Do I recommend King of Retail?'
YES, BUT ONLY ON SALE The game is very difficult to get into for sure. All the tutorials are in a separate menu you can only reach from the main menu, called "business school" You will feel very lost at first, and I would say it takes several hours of a first playthrough to even learn the mechanics of the game, how customers and articles work, how to manage employees, and what to focus on. The first in-game week or so of playing you will barely be scraping by, and it's more focused on playing as a "worker" just to make the ends meet As you keep playing the game will be more and more focused on managing your employees, hiring enough people and setting up schedules so that the store can run on full auto without you doing anything, except ordering new supplies at the end of the day. While the game is hard to learn and slow paced at times, it is a very unique and enjoyable experience. The game is however abandoned since long, as the developer has been hard at work on the sequel, and there are quite a few clunky mechanics and minor bugs taking place, as well as un-optimized UI.
I bought this game during early access, and I had a lot of fun playing it! right before the super bug hit us in 2020, I worked and played this game. it was so much fun! I wrote out a schedule on a note pad for my workers lol both my husband and my co workers thought I was crazy (I worked retail at the time ;) ), and once you figure out the ordering system, man, it is a very immersive game, totally worth the price. I played for just about 78 hours and I think i'm about itching to play some more spesh now that it's complete, I am really excited to find out the new stuff! This is a game I will probably come back to from time to time to play, and for the price that's totally a fair expectation. Thanks to all involved in making this game. lots of fun :)
Had potential. Sells a game Abandons it Announces a new game: trust me, bro
Leider hat der Entwickler das Spiel nach kurzer Zeit aufgegeben und viele Fehler und Probleme nicht behoben.
Meh its okay bit annoying at times and repetitive
