Really wish I could enjoy the story as delivered by the alleged protagonist, not their constantly mansplaining copilot. Didn't make it past an hour due to this design decision. AI instruction, notes left behind by other crew, or even *GASP* the protagonist herself - but no, we are doomed to be silent for some reason while our copilot natters on and on and on about the wonders of this new world. If there's a reason for this weird disparity in representation, I didn't make it far enough to find out.
A fantastic journey / experience like game.

its just not enjoyable to do anything in it
ok sorry this is a full on masterpiece. russian cosmonauts + steppes mysticism + airplane zoomies. its fascinating what this game gives its attention to and what it doesn't. the story is great sci fi and the music is absolutely killer. the second chapter, "given time", then does a bunch of open world puzzle stuff that technically completes the story which i am choosing not to engage with l o l
I loved the first level. The atmosphere is top-notch and the music and the gameplay are both amazing. I am excited about how it evolves from here. I definitely recommend this game.
I absolutely loved Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP back in the day. Played through it on multiple platforms, multiple times. And that's how I came to know about this game when it was first announced. Jett, along with its expansion upon arrival on steam, is simply put, two game modes set in the same one somewhat open world. Firstly you'll be going through a linear, story-driven experience exploring all the main landmarks of the world. And in the second campaign you would be in complete free roam with a few collection and exploration tasks to progress and finish the game. I personally found the "narration" in the first campaign a bit too distracting and hard to keep up with. Since NPCs talk in a made-up language with subtitles and most dialog takes place during gameplay, it's easy to get annoyed or miss a dialog or an objective. However this issue is non-existent in the second campaign and you're mainly left to move around and figure out the tasks and puzzles without much hand holding at all. Music and ambiance plays a big role in your playing experience, especially in the second campaign. However the overall theme and energy of the ost is not very exciting and much more calm and ambient, but still pretty good. Same with the gameplay itself. Getting the hang of gliding and building up speed definitely takes practice and feels very awkward sometimes but overall it's a smooth and calming experience. However in my personal playthrough which was very shortly after the steam release, I did run into some really bad level streaming bugs that sometimes required me to restart my game to fix softlocks. Same with some areas loading incorrectly and sounds crashing, etc. I would say if you don't like bugs, you should really make sure those issues have been fixed otherwise I wouldn't really recommend this game to you. TLDR; if the loading bugs from the initial release days have been fixed, Jett is a pretty interesting, and somewhat relaxing experience with chill sounds and okay gameplay. The first campaign has a bit too much exposition dumps and awkward dialog reading but the second campaign is the total opposite.
♥♥♥♥♥♥ pacing but amazing game, devs clearly had some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ management because they made a great world but forced you to hear a guy think for you constantly. would recommend if you can stand the annoying ♥♥♥♥
as a huge fan of Superbrothers' previous audiovisual experience, Sword & Sworcery EP, JETT: The Far Shore was the only game to ever tempt me into getting a PS5, being in one of the system's earliest showcases. it was the only game that tempted me to buy a game on EGS. but i waited, and it came to Steam finally this year along with the second half of the game i didn't know was missing, Given Time, as well as many optimizations to make sure it runs well on the PC platform. i'm glad i waited, and i love the game, though i haven't played much of the second half still, as it's more open world, and i'm not as big a fan of that as most people, but for those who are, that's good news, i suppose. anyway, this game ended up being all i wanted and more, and a hugely more ambitious project than the devs' previous game, in very much a positive way!
There will never be another game like this. I don't mean this in a bitter way or in a sad way, I mean it in a matter of fact way. This is a unique gem of a game—and even if that gem is flawed—it is still worth appreciating it for what it is, a unique experience. Jett has two parts, each offering 12 hours of gameplay. The story follows a group of human scouts who travel to another planet looking for a place to restart humanity as their homeworld has been destroyed. Your character, Mei, is a mystic among scientists, whose exact role in the mission is unknown. The story and world lore is cryptic, hidden through esoteric readings of the Tsagas (a prophecy) by characters who are very dogmatic. It takes time to mull over the story to understand it, but the story itself and the way its presented is a big positive for me, because I found the world to be very immersive. The main gameplay involves piloting Jetts—aircraft that bounce and weave upon and over the terrain beneath them. While they can not fly, they do however hover. Mastering the Jett and all its abilities takes time. The mixing of hard to learn game mechanics and hard to follow lore make for a sometimes frustrating experience, especially since these happen in tandem (but only in part one). Other reviews explore this issue more thoroughly, but with learning the controls the gameplay is good and fun. In part two, the game takes the reins off and lets you go free! You can learn the mechanics at your own pace and really enjoy what was hidden by a fast-paced story and constant chatter on the comms. Unfortunately, part two loses a lot of character interactions in favor for gameplay, which is understandable, considering how intense part one was with dialogue. I'm not sure where I'm going with review, but Jett is a good game and I enjoyed the 24 hours I put into it.
