I started playing Julia at Christmas 2023, nearly ten years after it came out. I'm a fan of both point-and-click adventures and sci-fi, but these days it's hard to find any good new adventures apart from Wadjet Eye's output. How I never stumbled across Julia before I don't know, but I absolutely LOVED the game! There are the sort of minor flaws you might expect from a small-company game (you have to experiment a bit to find out how the controls work and which buttons to click to do stuff), but the puzzles are fun and not too hard, the visuals and the music are good and the storyline is engrossing and moving. Whilst I wouldn't quite put it at the perfection level of Syberia or The Longest Journey, on my scale I'd give it nine out of ten, and I wish there was a follow-up. Jan and Lukas, thank you! You've made a seventy-year-old gamer very happy!
A compassionate game about being kind to Robots!
This is a very interesting futuristic sci-fi game about space travel, it's a point and click adventure that is very soothing and calming. You visit interesting planets with backstories, speak to alien creatures and try to find the mystery behind what happened to the rest of the crew. Story: Interesting Very sci-fi and mystery, love the futuristic aspect of it. Of course you are travelling to a lot of planets after being awoken from your cryogenic sleep by your AI companion JULIA. You look at data entries, investigate the broken bases left by the crew and your job is to literally piece together what happened. It's an interesting story about compassion, mercy, a good narrative about doing what's right if you actually find aliens to talk to one day! There are two endings for the story. Story is well written with some easter eggs hidden inside. *check out achievement "unexpected visitor" * Love the plot twist also at the end. The story do not end with the main game but in the DLC. Characters: Julia and Mobot best comedy duo You only have a few characters to interact with since you are basically sort of stranded in space, your two AI companions. I love how they interact, Mobot is very witty and Julia sometimes serious. Rachel manners, hmm she is can be a bit of apathetic scientist, i don't really feel much about her. There also typical aliens on different planets, outer dimensional beings that mastered time, space and mind? Anyways, an interesting array of characters for sure. The chemistry between these two amusing characters is something definitely will keep you entertained. Gameplay: Hard You have to think a lot for these puzzles, they are so incredibly well crafted but sometimes the solution can be a bit simple than we think. You investigate, gather items, samples, DNA, analyze them also. You can upgrade Mobot too. You collect the data pads and can do hacking. You learn foreign languages and try to understand the ancient alien history of this solar system. There are a lot of different kind of puzzles. There are mind-o-matics where you piece together the story also. There are also circuit like puzzles which required sometimes a lot of tries and thinking. Art and Music: Great! I love how atmospheric and calm the game feel, space travel is truly a wonder. The music is great, loved the ending song. The art is very nice. The voice acting also extremely good. Achievements: Straightforward Achievements are easy to get relatively, but i heard in the community that some of them can be bugged. So checkout an achievement guide first. I did not try to get all of them especially "Luditte" because it required me playing this all over again and I did not purchase the DLC too. But i collected whatever I could. Overall An interesting sci-fi adventure/mystery that will calm you down. If you are a space enthusiast who don't like super heavy sci-fi or just want to experience a light puzzle game this is right up your space route.

a really good and practically unknown sci-fi point & click, lots of cool places to visit and explore. I played the original version when it first came out, but the revamped one available here is a lot better in every way. still far from perfect, missing some settings, only 2 resolution options, some bugs, etc. but very much worth playing. the dlc is also highly recommended if you liked the cool wiring puzzles in the main game, as there are more of them there, not just a pdf and the soundtrack. it could've and should've been a standalone release.
Great point & click adventure game with interesting mechanics and good range of puzzles. The story is tense, the graphics are great for its time. Sound and spoken voices creating a good atmosphere.
pleasant point-and-click adventure game, with good puzzles, story, music and visuals
A stunning atmospheric experience, this one has heart... if you have the patience to slowly discover and unravel intricate mysteries, this game is for you.
It's reasonably good, given it's age. However, there is an unsolvable puzzle on Phaidos (one of the planets) because the mouse becomes locked into vertical only on a wire puzzle, so it thus, unplayable.
Just play it, you wont regret:)
Hate to write a negative review of this game, but I lost interest. Great concept, subpar execution. Dialogue got repetitive, finding datapad and locker codes got repetitive, the presentation of the "primitive" race is cringe, and one of the later voice actors just sank it for me. Puzzle design is overall pretty good, esp. the blueprint puzzles.
If i was able to give a 'meh' to this game then I would - it's not terrible, just very flawed and relatively expensive. The story is interesting enough and it's presented in somewhat novel way, but puzzles, blueprints excepted, are often really dull and the only challenge is trying to work out what you're supposed to do from the terrible explanations. The interface through which you play the game is clunky and the graphics sub-par (for 2014) - some of the fmv sequences look like they were created 10-15 years before. The game also frequently just lacks polish - spelling mistakes, text that is as incomprehensible as a Donald Trump diatribe, having to search for things that should be immediately apparent etc. I actually laughed when the game explained that Nitrogen was an explosive gas..so many things that should have been picked up during testing. I get that this is a two developer indie game, but its also a £15 game that was released 12 years ago.
