For anyone who loves Link's Awakening or classic Zelda, this is a great way to get your fix. The soundtrack is an especial standout.
Solid action adventure game with some more unorthodox items/abilities than standard adventurer's fare.
I supported the game on Kickstarter for a Game Boy-style Zelda fix, and I'm happy I did. It dropped the same day I finished playing through the Link's Awakening remake on Switch, and this game feels like its sibling from a parallel universe. Perfect on the Steam Deck.
You can tell that the people who made Isle of Reveries love old school Zelda games, it really scratches that itch! The pixel art is really appealing, the puzzle solving is great, the characters you meet are funny and memorable, and the music really sings! I just sat on the title screen listening to the main theme song as soon as I ran it for the first time. I've finished the first dungeon and am exploring the nearby lands and towns. Looking forward to digging deeper into the story.
having a hoot so far!
I played up to the end of dungeon 2 so far and I very much like the game. It's got nice music and polish. There is little handholding, the puzzle are challenging but fair, and I love puzzle box dungeon designs. That a recommendation from me.
honestly, this is hands down the best homage to link's awakening/oracle of seasons/ages you could ever ask for. cute cast (all of lief's sprites and animations are perfect~), lovely music, buncha interesting items and mechanics making for equally interesting puzzles, incredibly dense and sprawling map that's fun to explore (I wish there were map pins!), all wrapped up in a pretty simple and perfect lil story. it's not without it's moments of wonk, bugs, and frustrations, but I think the exact same could be said about the game boy zelda games :p
