This game is absolutely amazing! It is just the PURE embodiment of Indiana Jones. It has amazing writing, level design, characters, physics, Quests, exploration, locations, immersion, it's just all amazing. The craziest part to me is that SOMEHOW this is NOT the voice of Harrison Ford himself. What even blew me away further is that it is the same guy who voiced JOEL from TLOU. Absolutely mind boggling work. The antagonist is imo so amazingly done. Emmerich Voss is probably just as good as Vaas was back in the days of Far Cry 3. Absolutely amazing, get that voice actor a raise because he nailed it. It feels like a way more grounded version of Uncharted, it feels nice that you can't just climb a statue the size of the Taj Mahal or swing across universes with a single grappling hook. The gun play is a bit absent and i can imagine that on harder difficulties it must be punishing as hell to use guns since they alert everyone. So it's way more focussed on brawling and sneaking which is fine. It's nice that it also stays very true to the movies and the old school way of portraying those goofy holly wood fights. I must admit that it got kinda repetitive after a while and it was just way more fun to go in guns blazing. The only downside is that it doesn't really perform well on pc. There is an autosaving feature that just dips your fps everytime when it saves. I've had some moments where everything felt amazing and played perfectly and moment were it was tanking under 90 fps. Also i came across a couple audio bugs in my playthrough. Indy sometimes just repeats voice lines when doing a main quest. It also occured that Indy and Gina had a conversation when i was standing above the quest area. Like above near the sphinx when Gina was down in the sphinx tomb area. This caused a bit of confusion and frustration since you just miss out on the story cues. If you love the movies then this is a perfect homage to that.
I really enjoyed the game so much. It triggers FOMO so hard and you are prone to look behind every corner in case you might miss something. Overall a very beautiful game and absolutely not boring in regards of combat. You can technically shoot, but I enjoyed the hand combat the most. 10/10 game! Hopefully more DLCs or another game.
just insane game. Has some technical bugs but nothing much. It makes you feel like you are Indy and crack the whip 10/10
a masterpiece.
Tolle Story, super Rätsel
So, I just finished the game after 35+ hours and I've got to say that it is AMAZING! If you like adventure games with stealth and brain teasers, like Tomb Raider, or you are nostalgic for old Indiana Jones movies, then do yourself a favor and just go play this game now. If you're still not convinced, then allow me to elaborate: The first and arguably most important aspect of this game is the story, for obvious reasons, and honestly this story overall is on par with the old movies. The writing is impeccable, it's oozing with charm, all characters, and especially Indiana himself are played perfectly and the story knows exactly when to throw in some levity and when to retain more serious tone. No millenial writing for modern audience here, if you're worried about that. Then there's the main villain, who's of the type you love to hate and is almost as much of a main character and Dr. Jones. Then there's stealth gameplay, which is pretty standard, but also perfectly enjoyable, and I like how alerting one enemy doesn’t automatically mean that you have to restart the game from a checkpoint. If you're quick you can incapacitate an enemy, or even a few of them before they alert the whole area to your presence. My main criticism of the game boils down to the gun combat, which in itself works fine, however the enemy AI is so braindead, that towards the end of the game, when you can pick up pretty strong guns from fallen enemies, all you have to do to murder a few dozen guards and clear a whole enemy camp, is to find a corner, where they can't surround you, shoot everyone, as they walk right into your crosshairs and pick up new guns from enemies, when needed. They don't try to take cover and wait for you to come out and they don't even try to smoke you out with dynamite sticks, that are lying everywhere. That being said it was still an enjoyable power trip to be able to clear a camp like that, and stealth is always an option due to amazing level design. Graphics are awesome, game run very smoothly for me and from technical perspective I had very few, minor glitches. To summarize - this game is a real gem, and besides it being a very good game, that you actually play - it's not one of those glorified walking simulators by any means - I actually wish they still knew how to make movies of old franchises this good.
