In Between is set inside the mind of a man hit by a cruel twist of fate. Together you are on a journey through the protagonist's head, a world that doesn’t obey the laws of physics.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 22 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

(game not complete at 1.1 hours at review time, part of my review all my games effort) (short version) A gravity puzzler with a serious/depressive plot line. For $12 you could do much worse; A big + is many levels can be won in different ways. (long version) I like it, I don't love it, but it kept me entertained for about an hour before my brain started getting frustrated. If you're not in the mood for a depressive story this one might be a game to steer clear from. The good: Levels can be won (often) in different ways, the game is a serious challenge, achievements (as of Dec 2025) are mostly golden due to lack of completion on this game. $12 is a good price for the game. The bad: If you're not in the right head space this game may upset some people going though various issues. Some of the additional level threats (i.e. the darkness) can feel unfair at times, but it's part of the level to make you feel rushed so I get it.

Трагичная история про nегpа из Бруклина завораживает от начала и до конца. Переживая весь спектр его эмоций я осознал для себя, что есть на самом деле настоящее счастье и бытие.
For fans of precision platformers and puzzle games. The game has great visuals, a strong soundtrack, and a touching story. The player gets to listen to the protagonist’s inner thoughts, which adds interest to the storytelling. Be prepared to die many times. Many mechanics are not taught, so the player has to learn them on their own. Each chapter introduces a new hazard to the levels. For me, the most challenging part was the death walls in chapter 2. After that, I think the game becomes easier. Some levels clearly needed more checkpoints to be more accesible. I didn’t find the controls especially difficult. I noticed some bugs in the spike hitboxes. Sometimes death would come if a foot even slightly touched the edge of a spike, and other times the character could stand with his head in the middle of spikes without any consequences.

In Between is a rare puzzle-platformer that prioritizes emotional resonance as much as mechanical ingenuity. Developed by Gentlymad and published by Assemble Entertainment, it follows the internal journey of a terminally ill man facing the end of his life, and rather than telling that story through cutscenes or exposition, it unfolds within the landscape of his memories, fears, and unresolved thoughts. The game immediately establishes a contemplative tone—somber but compassionate—inviting players not to rush forward but to sit with the weight of mortality and acceptance. It’s an experience designed to be felt as well as solved, and that commitment to thematic intent shapes every artistic, mechanical, and narrative choice. Visually, the game is striking. The hand-painted art style gives environments a textured, almost dreamlike atmosphere, as though the levels exist between recollection and imagination. Each setting carries emotional context—childhood streets, personal spaces, symbolic voids—yet nothing feels literal or overly defined. Instead, the environments communicate through color, composition, and motion, allowing players to interpret them rather than simply observe. The animation is subtle, meant to preserve the game’s quiet dignity rather than dazzle. The sound design reinforces that restraint: gentle melodies, ambient echoes, and soft piano progressions lend introspective weight to the experience without overwhelming it. The artistic direction never loses sight of the fact that the story unfolds inside a human mind, not a physical world. The core mechanic—manipulating gravity—drives both the game’s puzzles and its emotional metaphor. Instead of jumping, players rotate the world, shifting gravitational pull so the protagonist walks on walls, ceilings, and shifting planes. Early levels allow experimentation and spatial learning, but as the game progresses, obstacles reflecting psychological struggle appear: darkness that chases relentlessly, bursts of light that require stillness, winds that resist progress, or hazards that punish hesitation. Each mechanical shift corresponds to a stage of grief, and as new emotional barriers surface, the gameplay evolves to express them. These connections feel purposeful rather than gimmicky, making the puzzle-solving feel like participation in the protagonist’s internal reckoning rather than just navigation through increasingly difficult levels. The puzzles themselves range from elegant to demanding. Some solutions come through observation and calm, while others require precise timing, directional awareness, and quick reaction. The game’s physics introduce unpredictability at times, and mastering gravity rotation can be disorienting until muscle memory develops. For many players, that challenge enhances the thematic impact—grief is uncomfortable, and the game reflects that. But there are moments when difficulty spikes interrupt the emotional pacing, and certain stages feel more punishing than insightful. Controls are generally responsive, though the precision required in later sections may frustrate those expecting a purely meditative experience. The learning curve remains fair, but the game assumes patience and a willingness to fail repeatedly before grasping its rhythm. Narratively, In Between is gentle but deliberate. The protagonist’s memories surface gradually through environmental storytelling and quiet interludes, giving players time to process rather than forcing emotional responses. The writing avoids melodrama, opting instead for vulnerable honesty about fear, regret, love, and longing. It’s a deeply human story—one that acknowledges that acceptance rarely arrives cleanly or quickly. The absence of extraneous characters or branching dialogue reinforces the intimacy of the journey, and by withholding certain details until late in the game, it invites players to reflect not just on the protagonist’s life but on their own experiences with loss or uncertainty. Despite its emotional and artistic strengths, the game’s introspective pace and philosophical framing may not appeal to everyone. Those seeking fast platforming, mechanical complexity, or constant novelty may find the experience slow or repetitive. The puzzle structure remains consistent across the campaign, and while thematic layering enriches it, the formula does not dramatically transform by the end. Additionally, the difficulty—especially when paired with such a heavy narrative—may feel at odds with the game’s reflective intentions. But for players open to a slower, story-driven puzzle experience, these qualities become assets rather than drawbacks. In Between ultimately succeeds because it trusts its audience. It doesn’t sensationalize tragedy or drown emotional storytelling in elaborate mechanics. Instead, it offers a quiet, beautifully constructed meditation on what it means to face the inevitable, using gameplay as a language rather than an accessory. It’s a game that lingers—not because of its puzzles alone, but because of the humanity woven into them. For players drawn to thoughtful indie experiences, artistic storytelling, and games that explore emotional truth without sentimentality, In Between stands out as a moving, worthwhile journey that respects both the mind and the heart.
