Hunter’s Legacy is an old-school 2D single-player Metroidvania platformer where you control Ikki, a fierce kitty skilled with twin swords and a bow, better known as the Great Huntress of Un'Amak.

The game is fun, tbh I play it sometimes just for the thrill of it! Somethings are... weird but overall I have been having fun. Also, it is one more step for Mexican developers to really make the industry go somewhere in this country.
When it comes to game development I am one to believe that you either can or can't; there is no getting better from feedback - if you don't understand what hurts a game from the start then you never will. Game developing is an inner ability awoken through education but not an ability that education alone can instill. Sure, anyone can make a game but not a good game. Hunter's Legacy has all the fixin's demonstrating that the developers knew how to operate their development kit but were absolutely void of that magic needed for their professionally crafted game to be enjoyable. My biggest frusration with Hunter's is that every step of the way you feel like you've taken a knife to a gun fight. Hunter's difficulty soley relies on attrition using weeds and thorns in your way to tie you down while bombarding you with the same green fairy demons over and over. Yeah, I know kitties with bows and swords can be cute but this one needs a machine gun badly. Even when a challenge like a boss fight starts off almost Zelda-fantastic something is stripped during the battle that turns it into a forty-five minute struggle forcing players to rely on the most tiring of tactics to hit the boss until your fingers just become too tired to keep up or the batteries in your gamepad die. tlfr; imagine a side scroller where the entirety of it relishes in makng the player tediously and slowly move through a lake of tar while being bombarded by a non-stop onslaught of bullet-slinging enemies and this amatuer gameplay design immaculately presented in Konami qualty programming. This is the exact opposite of Super Bembo Quest

(Note: Got this in a Fanatical Bundle) Let me list a few of the pros and cons this game has...
Pros:

Interesting, if clichéd, story... Evil Fellow takes a McGuffin, goes and hides, hero(ine) has to go retrieve said McGuffin from Evil Fellow or peril will happen
Active combat a la Metroidvania style with a little Zelda attached [*[Upgrade system to power up your two primary weapons, a dual katana and a bow, plus HP upgrades from the Healer in town... (Requires ore, but more on that later)
Remappable keys are a plus for keyboard users like myself. Controller support is nice too...
Okay. So now that we got the good out of the way, it's time for both the bad AND the ugly with the...
Cons:

Ore is so few and far between (And often in inaccessible places until after you've acquired certain abilities (Often after a boss or a lucky white chest find))
A severe uptick in difficulty starting in the first Orb Dungeon ehivh hsd led me to ragequit multiple times probably weirding out the folks who live under me in my apartment building...
Based on the first con... Heavy backtracking will be necessary if you want to upgrade EVERYTHING. As again. upgrades require ore which is so unevenly distributed, it's kinda disappointing... [/ist] All in all, a decent game, but if you're like me who rages easily when a boss hands you your butt 10 times in a 20 minute span... This game might not be fore you...
Scores:
(Note: These are not averaged. Overall Impression is my overall take on it...) Controls: 8/10 Story: 6.5/10 (Overly clichéd for most games of this type) Visuals: 9/10 Overall Impression 6.75/10

I am not a big fan of Metroid or Castlevania so this review is coming from someone who doesn't play many titles in the genre. Hunter's Legacy features clean simplistic cartoon visuals with a cool theme that is easy for any cat lover to get behind. The gameplay starts off extremely easy but by the end of the game there are areas and bosses so difficult that you may throw your controller at the screen. If you are into that type of difficulty than this game is for you. If not, perhaps the visuals and simplistic weapon upgrade system will keep you satisfied as you wonder through areas endlessly looking for ways to progress through the story. Metroid type gameplay can be very confusing to navigate at times. Lot's of fun to play if you are into this genre.
Started for bunny, ended with blade. Cat teaches parkour, I major in faceplant. Loot cheese from dragon, grill on own tail. Boss dropped hat, I dropped jaw. Beat it overnight, real cat now grades my jumps.
Nice and cool, more complex than I expected!!

XUnity.
