Wonderful puzzle game
Amazing game despite not being quite my cup of tea. Sometimes, you come across games that do not fully connect with you, still they are so well done that you just have to recommend them to other people. Homebody is a horror puzzle game in the same style of Outer Wilds or Grunn. Run-based, and on each go, as you uncover the mystery you start deciphering how to go further along and disentangle the mystery. I loved some of the more surreal writing, the puzzles are interesting and fair – although they never blew me away, and the atmosphere is just awesome. The gameplay loop is very satisfying and it is genuinely really cool how they shake up the structure in very novel ways for the genre. Visually, I respect how unique the game looks, but I did not connect with it that much. Similarly, I think that the writing, although interesting, it felt a tad uneven and unfocused. I think I was expecting a bit too much from it, but it is still a really cool game that I would highly recommend, it just doesn't quite reach that 'stellar' or 'awe inspiring' feeling that I was craving.

Unfortunately, I think that Homebody is more interesting in premise than it is an actually good game. The gameplay loop is engaging at first - Emily joins a handful of friends at a spooky mansion and is thrown into a time-loop where she has to solve the mansion's puzzles before a slasher comes to kill her late into the night. The art and visual style is great, but I do feel the puzzles become a little monotonous to do over time. There isn't much in terms of music, which I guess sets the mood for a horror game, but does leave me a bit wanting. The story, probably the most integral part to Homebody, is a little bit too obtuse for my liking, and leaves a few too many questions unanswered by the end of the game. If you're looking for a horror or puzzle-adventure game, I don't think Homebody will be enough to impress you.
loved the narrative :)
"get off the hot dog" 💝🖤🖤 🟩 good atmosphere 🔷 heavy focus on puzzles 🔴 story is kind of hit and miss vibes: escape room anxiety loops: explore a puzzle-filled house while escaping from a hunter with a time loop on death ramblings: look and feel was really good. stuff with the more personal character story i liked. i did enjoy the more surreal and psychological vibes, but the larger story itself kind of felt cryptic for the sake of it and like it was trying to be multiple unfocused conflicting things simultaneously. neglects the friend characters, you start off talking to them and it looks like it'll be something interesting with the loops, flashback cutscenes focus on this group, but in the game itself they're just kinda nonentities. i don't know, story and game just felt too disconnected from each other, i liked parts of it and then just feel off about others. while i did enjoy the idea of solving this greater puzzle over time with the loops, and the fact that you can technically complete it from the very start is neat, but it was a little over much and felt like i was just running around a haunted play house. verdicts: while i didn't love it, i still enjoyed my time with it. don't get scared off by the streamer/youtuber stuff, it's not some garbage streamer bait game, it's decent and doing its own thing.
A weirdly touching time loop horror game about mental health struggles and how it affects life and friendships
we are all made of meat
This is a cool game with a solid premise. I think it has some issues with how the ideas map onto the actual gameplay model - some loops you would essentially have to run around looking to die to get the next loop underway but it is a brief enough loop that having to reboot it doesn't feel too taxing.
Juego de puzles con ambientación de terror. Los puzles estan bien y la historia es inquietante, aunque el sistema de bucle puede hacerse cansino si estas atascado. Bueno.
never had to search up a walkthrough thanks to how the game handled itself
