Hero of Not Our Time – shoot ‘em up.
I love this game a whole lot, the art the concept the unique-ness of it. However I cannot reccomend it due to its unfinished and buggy state, as well as no word from the developers for several years now. I hope it gets the TLC it deserves and if it does I will definitely be all over it. But until that time I cannot in good conscience recommend it.

There are some really cool ideas here bogged down by some really weird design choices. The darkness/fog of war thing is kinda weird in a game that seems to want to play like a fast paced top down shooter. Like there's dupstep blaring while I frantically dash through darkness looking for enemies to shoot so I can feel as cool as I should. I don't feel like a badass movie hero, I feel more like a legally blind man with a gun. And the game rewards you for clearing the darkness, so even after you kill the enemies you walk around the map for a minute to discover all of the chests and get extra money. This process is very dull and keeps me from doing what I want to do: shoot my gun. Which brings me to my next point. The weapon customization is really awesome. The modular nature of it, being able to pick and pull the gun apart and make your own little build for the weapon is great. Freely organizing the inventory is a neat idea. So why did you eliminate all player choice and stuff the gun parts into random boxes? Why not let me buy the parts I want to try piece by piece? Instead I have 4 of the same rifle part that I can't use and 6 extended clips that I can't use. Om top of not being able to get the parts I want, some boxes are mimics, who sometimes fling themselves off the map, taking my money and loot. The game just seems to be working backwards against itself here - let the players do the fun things you put into your game. The reload system is novel and fun - but the perspective and lack of clear cover make it hard to use consistently. I can't tell what to hide behind to reload, and by all means the game wasn't designed to be a cover shooter. So often, the best option isn't to reload but to click spam the sword attack. The game includes sound and stealth mechanics despite obviously wanting to be a balls to the wall top down shooter. This is good, but some really weird choices keep it from greatness. It's like the game was made by one guy who wanted to make a tactical top down stealth game and one guy who wanted a hotline Miami-like but they came together on cool gun mechanics.

This game is what you get if Risk of Rain 1 and Cyberpunk 2077 have an affair and give their baby away. The foster parents for their offspring is all of the demons from Doom and such demons teach this baby how to preform blood rituals, rapidly operate, disassemble, and reassemble firearms, and wield bladed weaponry whilst doing so. I legitimately have no other words to describe this, it has been amazingly fun and I have no clue why. I would say get it perhaps on sale if it ever does that.
Actually, this game is kinda fun. I fully expected a trash game when i got this, but this seems like a nice game. There are two major problems i made out this far. Gameplay seems a little boring after awhile (although i have to admit the music helps with having fun) and the game throws a lot of things at you which is not easy to understand at the beginning. All in all i can say is, for the little time i played i had a good amount of fun.
Its a scam
