Reviews
To fully understand this review I highly recommend playing the first game, as this is a direct sequel to Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. However if you still want to read this review first that's perfectly fine. After finishing the sequel I can confidently say that I still prefer the first game. That doesn't mean the sequel is bad. I enjoyed it too and definitely plan to continue with the third game when it releases. There are also several aspects where the sequel improves over the original. Story – 8.7/10 The first game is a deeply personal journey about Senua fighting both her inner demons and her quest to save the soul of her beloved Dillion, who was killed by the Northmen (the Vikings). She travels to Helheim the Norse realm of the dead ruled by the goddess Hela. Throughout her journey Senua must overcome her fear, trauma, and psychosis. Her psychosis was inherited from her mother, while her father believed they were cursed by the gods and treated both of them horribly. That's why I talked a lot about mental health in my review of the first game. The sequel shifts its focus to Senua's journey across Iceland where she tries to stop Viking slavers from capturing and sacrificing innocent people to the Giants, just as they once did to her own village. What I really like about the sequel is how much bigger the world feels. You'll travel through many different locations, meet more people, and experience a story with a much larger scope. The plot feels more ambitious than the first game. My biggest issue is that the storytelling isn't as clean or well-paced as the original. Some parts feel rushed, while others drag on for too long. A few chapter climaxes also felt underwhelming. That doesn't make the story bad though because it still has several breathtaking and emotional moments. I think the biggest problem is simply that the first game set an incredibly high standard for me. The first game constantly kept me curious and emotionally invested from beginning to end. Every chapter felt meaningful and that's exactly why I jumped into the sequel immediately after finishing it. I also felt that several side characters were underdeveloped. They had a lot of potential but the game never spent enough time exploring their personalities. Thorgestr in particular was a character I wanted to learn much more about. Even though the overall plot is much bigger the story still revolves almost entirely around Senua. IMPORTANT MESSAGE After finishing the game you'll unlock an alternate narration mode where Senua's companion becomes the narrator instead of the usual voice. This provides a different perspective on the same story by adding new dialogue from other characters. Ironically this feature doesn't change anything. While it does give the side characters more dialogue it still isn't enough to fully develop them. You'll also need to replay the entire game to experience it. In the end I still felt that most of the supporting cast had wasted potential. I wanted more interactions and stronger character development so I could become emotionally attached to them not just to Senua. Gameplay – 8.2/10 The combat has definitely improved but the puzzle sections remain mostly the same and become repetitive at times. In fact I think the puzzles were better in the first game. They offered more variety, never felt boring, and were much more connected to the story itself. The tension while solving puzzles in the original also matched the atmosphere perfectly. Since the sequel has a less gameplay time there are fewer puzzles overall. Combat on the other hand feels much more intense. Enemies are more aggressive and I died far more often than I did in the first game. The cinematic finishing moves are especially satisfying. Whenever an enemy is close to death Senua automatically performs a unique execution animation and many of them vary depending on the type of enemy you're fighting. The sequel also introduces more boss fights but I found most of them disappointing. Only one boss battle really stood out and left a lasting impression. Graphics / Atmosphere / Environment – 9.3/10 I'm giving this section the same score as the first game because although the graphics and environments are significantly better, the atmosphere never reaches the same level of tension. The world is much larger allowing you to explore a greater variety of locations and some absolutely beautiful scenery. Combined with the massive graphical upgrade the game is visually stunning. This isn't just a small improvement it feels like a major leap forward in visual quality. Soundtrack – 9.0/10 The sequel maintains the same high standard as the first game. The soundtrack is beautiful and the instrumental pieces fit the world perfectly. My only complaint remains the same I wish there were more vocal songs instead of relying mostly on instrumental music. It's only a minor issue though and it doesn't take away much from the overall experience. Overall If you ask me whether I'll play the third game when it releases, my answer is absolutely yes. Even though I don't think the sequel reaches the same level as the first game it still leaves me curious about what happens next. The sequel isn't bad at all it simply had the difficult task of following the standard from first one. It still gave me goosebumps and several emotional moments and that's one of the most important things I look for in games like this. I just hope the third game turns out great and that development goes smoothly. Hopefully it won't get canceled since the dev Ninja Theory now separate and end they contract with XBOX. It's already listed on Steam as TBA so now all we can do is wait.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Absolute Cinema
Zachwycająca i niepowtarzalna mimika twarzy i ruchy postaci, powiązane z wartką fabułą, wyjątkowym udźwiękowieniem, psychozą bohaterki, podnosi immersję gry do najwyższych rozmiarów.
Keyifli oyunlar.
Lo he disfrutado bastante!

A sequel that does away with much of the mental health focus and speculation to focus on a story of the myth and fantasy of Viking Iceland. Take up the role of Senua once more, allowing her self to be captured by Northmen as a slave in order to track down the leader of those who have been raiding her lands and enslaving her people. A storm shipwrecks the slaver vessel, allowing her to escape, get hold of a sword, and capture the viking who enslaved her. It is through these actions that Senua discovers the vikings have been raiding for slaves to use as sacrifices to keep actual giants at bay from devouring the viking tribes, doing away with much of the speculation about the fantasy elements of the first game. No longer are the fantasy and mythological elements potentially just an illusion of Senua's mental health, but now a very real part of the world that others are experiencing alongside her. IMHO, this takes away some of the magic that made the first game such a powerful experience. Hellblade II is certainly in the genre of action-adventure, yet leans pretty heavily towards being more like an interactive movie. Paths are quite linear when it comes to exploration, skipping you along from destination to destination as you deal with the giants, meet new people on your journey, and go looking for the hiddenfolk; a type of fae folk living under the Earth. Combat is pretty straightforward, with light and heavy attacks (the latter to break through a foe's guard), blocking, dodging, and parrying if a block is timed correctly. Landing enough hits will perform a kill animation, green lighting the next foe to engage you if there is one. Strikes also charge up a mirror Senua wears on her hip, giving you a sort of bullet time where time slows, giving Senua the opportunity to unleash a barrage of blows against her target. Finding the shape in the terrain puzzles make a return, although now their purpose and meaning feel a bit blurred compared to the first Hellblade entry. A shadow of Senua's father abusing her still torments her mind, throwing up obstacles before her that must be dispelled by finding similar shapes in the landscape to make up a sigil blocking the way. In the first game it felt more like this was all a part of Senua's mind, a symptom of her degrading mental health, but now there is a very real possibility that her mental health isn't what it appears to be, instead the shadow maybe being an actual spirit haunting her, and the voices of her mind being the Furies, lending her the power of a seer. Rune posts are scattered throughout the game, telling bits and pieces of a tale as you find them; same with these wee trees that can be found behind faces in the rock of the surrounding terrain. Visually, Hellblade II looks quite stunning; from Senua's face and expressions, the landscape you travel through, and the battles Senua fights in - everything looks fantastic. This is definitely a game that benefits from having a photomode. Voice work is another strength of the franchise, Senua's voice actress nailing the delivery throughout the whole game. Music is pretty on point, setting the atmosphere quite well and an ending song for the credits I rather enjoyed. On the whole, Hellblade II loses a lot of what made the first game special in terms of how it handles mental health, myth and fantasy, and the general execution of the world and story going forward. I wanted to play through this one since a third Senua game was announced, but the studio making it - Ninja Theory - was closed just a few days after the announcement. I would say you could pass on this one, but it wouldn't be bad to pick up on a deep sale either. I'd put this one as a middle recommendation over positive or negative, but Steam doesn't work that way.
