Terrible. I bought this game a month ago, played it a few times. Realized, there was no hope for this game. Waited a long time, played countless hours of HLL expecting this to be equally as epic if not more. Do not recommend to a friend. Don't do it. Maybe in a year or two when they iron out all the kinks with the gameplay and bugs, it might be okay. I finally requested a refund because I will never play it again.
The fact that you are forced to play with crossplay on or no compatible servers are available is literal aids. The console community is a worthless community that really sucks the everything out of a game. The fact that being able to move forward decides when it's going to work whenever is also a great feature! Who needs to be able to move forward in a game like this!
Great game, ignore all the bad reviews. People can't possibly be pleased with anything these days.
Basically, they wanted a squad-based game set during the Vietnam War. In reality, we got call of duty:Vietnam — 0/10 for team cooperation, 0/10 for voice chat usage. And why the hell are there no flamethrowers or WP grenades for the engineer, or traps for NVA soldiers? Compared to Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, this game has a huge lack of weapons and factions. Heck, at the launch of RS2V, we got the NLF, PAVN, US Army, and USMC. Yeah, I know the difference between the US factions is basically just the camo, but it’s still fun to feel like a USMC grunt. And hell, if they added more outfits, like cut-up uniforms or something like that—not pink camo, but more like in RS2V, you know, common white shirts with bandages—it would feel so much cooler than what we have right now. AND YES, THE MUSIC. JESUS. When I first logged into RS2V, “Run Through the Jungle” blasted into my ears like US Army propaganda, and it felt so damn good. Here, we just get some generic background jungle music vibe. I don’t even see the point of going for a historical vibe when we’ve got a full-auto M16 but no M14, no RPG-7, but hey, we’ve got an RPG-2 option that doesn’t even blow the ♥♥♥♥ out of helicopters, and not even an MP40 or PPSh. At the end of the day, yes, the game has potential, but right now, it’s just not enough. Optimization is 50/50—not bad, but neither good. I won’t even mention the fact that we could burn entire jungles with Molotovs and napalm or destroy some structures, but no, we can’t. The whole battlefield feels empty because neither team even uses comms. They just lock the ♥♥♥♥ in on the point, and it feels like you’re pushing nothing. There’s no one around except for gunshots and enemy tunnel comms blasting in your left ear. Solid 4.5/10, with 3 points given only for the setting and 1.5 for the idea.
My disappointment is immeasurable. After pushing back the launch by 2 months the same issues still happen from the first beta but somehow worse now. VoIP issues still happening going back to OG HLL. Frame rate drops, hit box issues and even the bug with a 30 min timer between matches. I don't recommend this game until they fix a lot of these issues. Shame on you Team17 for trying to get people to pay $40 for this in it's current state.
Yeah, it's HLL. A lot of people are coming into this as if it's Battlefield. It is not. This launched way smoother than expected, honestly. As far as AAA shooters go, this is about as good as it gets (unless you have AMD). It has all the correct bones of HLL. New content and variety is needed soon, but with any tactical game like this (HLL, Squad, Arma, etc.) it will improve with time. Right now, the game is basically in free weekend mode. Blueberries are in season at an all-time rate. As the here-to-stay community takes shape, this is going to turn into a pretty good game.
first your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sound mfs. dudes behind me sound in front of me. honestly ridiculous.
After hundreds of hours in WW2 HLL, I was hoping for something similar and assumed the maps would be far more flushed out and lived in. Every match is you fighting over one compound in the jungle to another, while accidentally finding a handful of guys hiding in a bush. In the WW2 version, you had your handful of people who hid in bushes the whole game, but when the whole map is a bush... its just hard to have a good time when you only see 5 people the whole time.
Spawn in get shot from a bush, Spawn back in on another Garry shot from a bush, Legit unplayable you want a good Vietnam fps go play bo1 thats a masterpiece compared to this pile of junk.
