About
Love is not an experiment.
It’s a reality.
At least, that’s what the show claims.
Are you ready for a romance experience with true Hong Kong flavor?
A brand-new dating reality show — Heartbeat House: Hong Kong — is now on air.
This is not Netflix.
This is not YouTube.
This is a villa in Hong Kong, where eight young adults live together.
They eat, chat, date, flirt, argue, and fall in love.
Sometimes it turns into a love triangle.
Sometimes, it feels like destiny.
And you are there, too.
(And What You Might Regret)
Who do you want to date?
The choice is yours.
This is not a game that forces you into loving a single character.
You can take the initiative, respond passively,
or test the boundaries between multiple relationships.
The show won’t stop you.
It will simply… remember your choices.
The main story is romance.
The side stories are life.
Each character hides a past they don’t easily talk about.
Some secrets only surface when you make the wrong choice.
Some conversations feel normal the first time —
and unsettling the second.
If you play only once and walk away,
you will miss more than you realize.
The villa, streets, restaurants, and night views
are all inspired by real Hong Kong locations.
When you eat a bowl of wonton noodles in the game,
you might suddenly wonder —
why does this feel so familiar, yet so unreal?
All dialogue is fully voiced in authentic Cantonese.
Not standardized dubbing — real Hong Kong voices.
You’ll hear familiar tones, pauses, and casual remarks…
and occasionally,
a voice that feels like it shouldn’t be there.
All character portraits are hand-drawn by human artists.
Expressions, eye movements, subtle emotions — nothing is decoration.
At times,
you may feel like certain characters
are looking at you, not the script.
Because it’s more than a dating game.
Experience interactions and rivalries like a real dating reality show
Feel sweetness, jealousy, unease, regret, and emotions you can’t quite explain
Immerse yourself in Hong Kong’s atmosphere, like watching an unedited TV show
Close the game at 3 a.m., only to realize the scenes haven’t left your mind
Heartbeat House: Hong Kong is not a typical “PPT-style” visual novel.
Your choices will be answered.
Characters will remember what you say.
The atmosphere may feel relaxed — but it isn’t entirely safe.
If the screen flickers,
if dialogue pauses strangely,
if you begin to wonder whether this is really just a game —
Please relax. Keep dating.
The show is still ongoing.

Heartbeat House: Hong Kong is a hetero dating sim where you are thrown into a luxurious villa for a 45 day stay along with seven other contestants under the conditions of a reality television show. The game's setting is in Hong Kong and features a range of locations to visit, including a number of tourist attractions. If you're never likely to visit in person, this game offers a pretty decent way of getting a feel for the place as a tourist. The game begins with a menu offering a range of options including audio preferences, screen resolution, language (Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese or English), your character name and which gender you are going to pursue in game. This is very important and a point I'll come back to. There is also a button for contact info for the developer, which I used when I had some frustration finding the final two CGs in the huge gallery, and received a prompt, courteous and helpful reply. Kudos.
The “Story”/Reality show
Having chosen which gender you wish to pursue (which will automatically assign you as one of the opposite – as I chose to do the boys' routes first, I was assumed, correctly, to be one of the girls) and chosen a name for your character, the show begins where you select one of three random locations for an initial opening “blind date” with one of the other participants. You then enter the villa and run through 45 days' worth of dating show – including what the game refers to as “side stories” where you have a date with one other character, there are 54 separate “chapters” to enjoy within the show, plus an additional one afterwards which takes a rather unexpected turn. Initially upon entering the villa, you will meet 3 people of each sex. On day eight, the game throws a curveball and sends you out to a secret location, where you meet the fourth member of the opposite sex, evening up the gender balance in the show, including your own character, of course. This makes eight different people to date in total, as the late entry character changes according to which gender you are chasing. In addition to these, at the end of many chapters, there will be a recap from the two hosts. Their banter and bickering with one another is highly entertaining and one of the most fun parts of the dialogue. The player is presented with regular choices when questioned by a potential love interest, but not too many, typically between one and three per chapter. A clue is given via love hearts or a rain shower if you have selected the best or worst response, and you can always save at a decision point (or simply restart a chapter if you're not happy with the result, as these are never painfully long), so obtaining sufficient affection from your chosen target shouldn't become burdensome – although I recommend going after whoever your opening date is with, as affection points are gained during this, too.
Graphics and sound
Quite simply, this game is graphically outstanding. Many backdrops appear to be photographs, perhaps some with additional art added to them? I can't be sure, but it doesn't matter – just enjoy the ride. Character sprites are “pretty” (with apologies to the men who don't like the term being applied to them), but the CG portraits are simply another level. I openly challenge anyone reading this to fail to be attracted to at least one of the participants after seeing their portraits. Amazing work. Aurally, the background music plays a supporting role. You'd notice if it wasn't there, but it doesn't distract from your focus elsewhere. It knows its job and performs it well. There are also a range of good effects, and the non player characters are fully voiced in Chinese. Admittedly, I didn't want someone speaking in a language I don't know while reading one I do, so I muted that, but the option to have it is present.
Extras
On the menu screen there is a line of rolling tips. If you don't want to sit waiting for them to scroll by, they say: • Change gender target and player name at any time ** • Click on a player's portrait to access their wardrobe • Diamonds are awarded after every chapter ** The name change is important! Heartbeat House is not exclusively a cozy dating sim and this caught me out, actually briefly spoiling my enjoyment because I wasn't expecting it. Happily playing through my second run with my initial character, chasing and catching a new love interest (as you would), I got damned for infidelity and this led into the “horror aspect” I wasn't prepared for. Following this, my character was dead and I literally couldn't figure how to play any more. So be advised, you must change your character name after every second play through, no matter the result. Some will love chapter 55, the “Truth” chapter after completing the reality show. For me, it didn't sit comfortably, even though the reasons for it do extend the storyline, give rise to a “reunion” DLC, and make a whole lot more sense if chasing the same love interest (with the same player name) for a second time. From the menu, there are participant mini-portraits which you can click on (they also can be scrolled across to access them all) which lead to their personal wardrobe. You can buy outfits with diamonds which are freely gifted each time you finish a chapter, and equipping a new outfit will see that character wearing it in-game during all non-CG interactions. There are some rather risque ones in there, too!
Verdict
My disaffection for the horror part of the game is entirely personal preference and should not be taken as a negative aspect – just be aware that it exists. The warm, well rounded personalities of the characters make interacting with them pleasurable, there is no stupid childish ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anywhere in this reality show, the dates are quite varied, the locations desirable, Noah is heart-stoppingly gorgeous, and gameplay is satisfying. This is outrageously good value for the price and is a very, very easy recommendation for anyone who likes the genre. I'd like to thank two of my friends – the one who told me I'd enjoy this game – you nailed it. And the one who gifted it to me for my birthday. I was more than happy to support the developer further by purchasing the DLC. Heartbeat House: Hong Kong is an intriguing visual novel that blends romance, social simulation, and psychological horror into a surprisingly compelling experience. Developed and published by Genuine Studio, the game begins with a familiar premise: contestants gather in a luxurious villa to participate in a televised dating show where relationships are expected to blossom under the watchful eye of the cameras. While the opening chapters present a cheerful atmosphere filled with flirting, casual conversations, and opportunities to build connections, it soon becomes apparent that the show hides disturbing secrets beneath its polished exterior. This contrast between lighthearted romance and creeping dread becomes the foundation of an engaging narrative that keeps players questioning everything they see. The relationship system is one of the game's strongest qualities. Every dialogue choice influences how the cast reacts to the protagonist, making conversations feel significant rather than superficial. Each contestant has a distinct personality, personal motivations, and emotional depth that gradually unfold as trust grows. Forming close bonds requires paying attention to individual preferences, while careless decisions may damage friendships or romantic opportunities. Because the characters remember previous interactions, relationships develop naturally, making every playthrough feel personalized rather than predetermined. As the story progresses, the game steadily shifts from a dating simulator into a psychological thriller. Instead of relying on loud scares or constant horror sequences, it creates tension through subtle changes in dialogue, unsettling environmental details, and moments that quietly challenge the player's perception of reality. The familiar routines of the dating show begin to feel increasingly unnatural, and seemingly harmless events acquire darker meanings as hidden truths slowly emerge. This gradual escalation makes the mystery more effective because the suspense builds organically, encouraging players to continue searching for answers without sacrificing the emotional investment they have developed with the cast. The branching narrative further strengthens the experience by giving players genuine control over the direction of the story. Multiple romantic routes, changing alliances, and different narrative outcomes reward experimentation and replayability. Choices often carry long-term consequences that affect not only individual relationships but also how the central mystery unfolds. Rather than offering simple good or bad decisions, the game frequently presents morally uncertain situations where players must decide whom to trust and how deeply they wish to become involved in the increasingly unsettling events surrounding the villa. Heartbeat House: Hong Kong also benefits from its distinctive setting. The Hong Kong backdrop gives the game its own personality, helping it stand apart from many visual novels that rely on more familiar locations. The modern villa, stylish presentation, and reality show format create a convincing environment that initially feels glamorous and inviting. As the tone changes, these same locations become increasingly oppressive, demonstrating how effective environmental storytelling can transform ordinary settings into places filled with unease. This shift is enhanced by expressive character artwork, polished interface design, and atmospheric music that smoothly transitions between romantic moments and scenes of mounting psychological tension. While the game excels in storytelling and character development, it may not appeal to everyone. Players expecting nonstop horror may find the early pacing deliberately slow, while those seeking a traditional dating simulator could be surprised by the increasingly dark direction of the narrative. The gameplay focuses heavily on reading, conversations, and decision-making, so those looking for action-oriented mechanics may find the experience less engaging. However, players who appreciate story-driven adventures with meaningful choices will likely find the deliberate pacing worthwhile as the mysteries become more complex. Overall, Heartbeat House: Hong Kong successfully combines romance, suspense, and psychological horror into a memorable interactive experience. Genuine Studio demonstrates a strong understanding of narrative pacing by allowing emotional relationships and unsettling mysteries to develop side by side, ensuring that both aspects strengthen one another instead of competing for attention. The memorable cast, branching storyline, effective atmosphere, and carefully constructed tension make the game far more than a conventional dating visual novel. It delivers an emotionally engaging story that gradually transforms into an unsettling psychological experience while maintaining strong replay value through its multiple choices and endings. Rating: 9/10
好玩,但我还是想说希望在有生之年能看到猛鬼大厦3,作者加油
挺好的一个游戏,很有代入感。
I am not usually too fond of visual novels but I can wholeheartedly recommend Heartbeat House: Hong Kong. First things first, the scenes. The creators have obviously done a very good deal of research and created almost uncanny scenes around Hong Kong in each set based on the real tourist attractions, so accurate you can just adopt all the places featured for your real date ideas around the territory. The local Tourism Commission should have supported the creators for this one! The characters are sophisticatedly crafted. No matter the visual images or dialogue scripts, these characters are very captivating that you will fall in love with them. The creators have also arranged Cantonese voice dubbings which adds immersion naturally. Not going to spoil the whole story, but the plot twists in the game are simply brilliant and could caught you off guard. The story arc(s) are of course fascinating and will certainly reach the deep bottom of your heart.
I have only finished the girls section. Understand that there is large fan base for Stella the dancing queen, but I do find Elena the sensible mature yet alluring expat hits me very close to home.
All this all, this is a rare, excellent breed for a Hongkong-themed indie games. Never expected this game to deliver such a hard punch, way above its weight, before purchasing. Bought the DLC after finishing the main game too. So, even if you are not keen in this genre, it is totally worthy to try this one out as an exception.
