Take The Shape of Evil as Michael Myers or save your neighbors as a Hero of Haddonfield in Halloween, the ultimate asymmetrical horror sandbox.
As Michael, players wear the mask, become the Boogeyman, and stalk innocent residents with relentless obsession. Utilizing a nightmarish array of abilities, Michael leverages shadows and stealth to satisfy his bloodthirst. This doesn’t mean Haddonfield is going down without a fight. Frightened townsfolk will call the local authorities and even fight back when threatened, incentivizing Michael to avoid detection. And for the first time ever, fans of the transformative original film will have the option to witness the haunting narrative events surrounding "The Night He Came Home" through the eyes of Michael Myers in a standalone singleplayer story mode.
As a Hero of Haddonfield, it’s your job to alert the residents of Haddonfield to the impending evil and help them escape before falling victim to Michael’s unyielding pursuit. In dynamic and ever-changing 1v4 asymmetrical multiplayer matches, hero players must arm themselves with everyday household items, weapons, and knowledge to combat an unpredictable and unkillable enemy. Convincing townsfolk and contacting the police will lead to increasingly powerful and thorough neighborhood patrols. To even the odds, you can command and equip NPCs with weapons to outsmart or even overpower The Shape, providing precious windows for escape.
This immersive horror sandbox is powered by Unreal Engine 5 to deliver engaging and dynamic gameplay systems, life-like NPCs, hauntingly realistic visuals, cinema-quality lighting, and endless scares for you and your friends. Asymmetrical horror comes home in Halloween.

beat me
I went in with low-ish expectations due to what I had seen from various clips from the early access. tl;dr, not worth $40 or $60 US, $20+30 is closer to what I would've been more comfortable with spending. Not a bad game(outside of optimization), just for what it is, bit too expensive

The Good
Honestly fun overall. Story serves as a tutorial for Michael while (from what I played) retelling the events of the first movie with Loomis narrating and showing just Michael's perspective. In many ways Friday The 13th's(the game) formula is here for gameplay; as Myers can be stunned, he plays like Jason in several ways with the addition of needing to stalk players/civilians, proxy chat for both sides return from F13. While buggy at times, nothing that I've ran into that ruins the experience(that I've ran into in my nearly 6 hours of playing)
The Bad
If you play civilian, the game just throws you in with no tutorial; even if as a player that usually skips tutorials, a civilian tutorial would've been nice. The game is unfortunately unoptimized on PC. While I have older hardware, the performance I was getting was fairly bad with a mix of medium and low settings with DLSS set to performance(on a 1080p display)

Uncertain future
With the game being developed by IllFonic and published/co-published by Gun Interactive, based on IllFonic and Gun's prior work(F13), I doubt IllFonic will remain on the game going into year 1 on the game. As with Friday The 13th, IllFonic left the game little after the game's 1 year anniversary. Black Tower Studios took over until the game's end of content by a lawsuit over series ownership. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, another game published by Gun had Sumo Digital(instead of IllFonic) on the game from start of development to February 2024, less than a year of release; Black Tower Studios, like F13 took over development for the game. 13 months later TXCM had it's end of content+support announced

bugssss
Decent gameplay loop with just the right amount of jank. I can see it becoming a problem once the MLG sweats break the game down to code, but that's always to be expected today in gaming. Ignorance is bliss. Enjoy the game while you can; they honestly did a great job.
++
first game I immediately get soft locked yeah looking like another big win from IllFonic
If you have a PC capable of launching a new mission to the moon, you're going to really enjoy this game, if you don't then you're going to cry. I don't have a NASA PC....
voip only works when spectating for some reason
