Guns of Icarus Alliance killed Guns of Icarus Online by splitting the player base... and then the players left. Alliance came with new ships, new lore, a co-op campaign, but ultimately not enough to differentiate it in a meaningful way. Devs merged the games now so you can only play Alliance. People are online sporadically and you can usually find somebody to play with. There are dev organised events every week so it's not dead. More like on life support.
Я так понял, что "Guns of Icarus Online" был сфокусирован на PVE-битвах, а "Guns of Icarus Alliance" на PVP-битвах. Но всё это уже не имеет значения, так-как обе игры уже мертвы.

I was an engineer in the game back in the day and it was the most fun I had at the time. Keeping the ship together so the gunners and captain could do their jobs. Having different builds for a variety of tools I used to counter enemy strategies to take down our ship, learning the layout of every ship design to know how to zip between key points ASAP to repair and boost systems. I miss the captain I used to play with. Wish more people had given this game a chance, it was and is really great.
Guns of Icarus Alliance is what happens when you mix steampunk, teamwork, and pure chaos in the sky. You and your crew are flying this janky airship, trying not to explode while everything catches fire and someone keeps asking, "Wait... who's steering?!" Played this with friends and let me tell you—there’s no friendship quite like the one forged in the flames of a broken engine while screaming, “I NEED SOMEONE ON THE GATLING, NOW!!” My experience in a nutshell: Started as an engineer. Spent 90% of the game whacking stuff with a wrench like a confused plumber in a sky war. Our pilot flew straight into a mountain. Twice. Gunner kept shouting “RELOADING!” as an excuse to do nothing. We still won. Somehow. Highlights: Constant panic. Loved it. Swapping roles every game = instant replay value. Blimps exploding dramatically = chef’s kiss. If you enjoy yelling tactical nonsense, frantically fixing things, and blaming your friends for everything, this is your game. 10/10 airship therapy.
its dead but its one of the best games ive ever played
Game is really fun and with some more support it would have the potential to be so much more. Sadly however the game is dead there is an average of 0 players online with 2-4 players per 24h. Still open custom games from time to time just for the sounds and pure atmosphere
-Quick Review- Guns of Icarus is a Team-based steampunk themed first-person shooting game, where you play as either an Engineer who repairs stuff, Gunner who shoots stuff, or a Pilot who directs your airship. Guns of Icarus Online was developed by Muse Games and released in 2012, Guns of Icarus Alliance was released in 2017 and added a PvE mode (previously Guns of Icarus was only PvP), and added in factions, and some new airships! Review Video: If you don't like reading, or are curious about watching gameplay check out my video here: https://youtu.be/0TLsqoTXMMc -Detailed breakdown review- Story: When I played Guns of Icarus Online, I thought originally the story was simply “You’re living your best life as a Career Engineer/Gunner/Pilot who is fighting in a perpetual war” … Actually, the dev’s probably had some long explanation about a war which destroyed humanity and collections of civilization’s clustered together to build airships to take to the sky and battle for dominance… because after all human beings are nothing, if not predictably self-destructive? I’m not sure where people are finding “Lore” for Guns of Icarus, there’s some stuff on the Wiki (but I dunno where that comes from), and on reddit I was reading most of the lore comes from Map Descriptions. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3518969194 Gameplay: Where to start with Guns Of Icarus Gameplay… First, you’ll make an account (It’s been so long since I did that, I forgot you needed to do it), then you should play the first Engineer Tutorial… I’d definitely advise giving all the tutorials a shot, especially if you’re planning on being a pilot. I don’t remember there being a tutorial when I first played, I remember learning by making Practice games and trying out weapons and airships there. Next, you’ll need to select your starting class… but unlike picking your starter pokemon you can switch between them at will. Engineer and Gunner are recommended for beginners because they have the most straightforward roles… but I’d add weight to learning how to Engineer as it’s the most beginner friendly role because you normally double up on Engineers. Next you decide if you want to play PvP or PvE… back in the day we had to walk up hill to school, both ways… An’ we didn’t got no fangled PvE option. Now there is a PvE mode, you should learn the game against AI controlled airships! You can make your own match and even sail with an AI controlled crew, or you can wrangle up 3 friends and play together the way the game was intended. PvP is definitely fun, and the next level experience for Guns of Icarus… but the people who know what they’re doing will DOMINATE the game, and everyone else will spend a lot of time respawning. Not to discourage you from it, definitely give it a shot… but you’re less likely to see PVP games going unless they’re hosted by the community events, or by clans. But as long as you have two people willing to be captains, you can make a PvP Game! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3515104791 Conclusion: Guns of Icarus Alliance is great! It enables me to play the game by myself at the worst… and at the best I can drag friends into this great team building exercise! Depending on what class you play as there are tiered difficulties and complexities, definitely start out as an Engineer or Gunner while you learn the game. Then maybe take the next step and try piloting! I said in my old Guns of Icarus Online review that the game is designed to be played for a long time, easily wracking up hundreds of hours of play time. I wish there were more people playing this game actively so we would have more PvE and PvP matches going. However Guns of Icarus Online would be harder to recommend due to its dependence on having enough people around to fill up two ships, it’s far easier to fill up one ship, or just make your own match and have people drop in to join your crew. Hopefully my review was helpful. I'm limited in text format just how long I can make these reviews, but in video format I can cover so much more, so I’d like to footstomp checking out my video review, anyway. Thanks either way for taking the time to read this review.
This game is peak. For the pvp you do need a group of people to play with now though, at least 6 for a 3 person per ship 1v1. If you have 8 people you could do a 2 person per ship 4v4, which isn't ideal but lets you fill the sky. For co-op PvE a smaller group is okay, 4 people lets you fully crew one ship, while 6 lets you comfortably crew two. Being a solo pilot with AI engineers and gunners is totally do-able, so if you're alone or only have one friend to play with you can be captains perfectly fine.
Dead Game, never buy. steam still allowing key to be sold is a scam and a shame
