Good solid take on the genre of action top down roguelikes... has solid progression mechanics to mix and match powerups to go along with your weapons along a grid structure plus level up upgrades. This along with different robot types and permanent upgrades you can unlock lead to a lot of replay value and though you might find it a bit too grindy for your liking at its low price its definitely worth trying out. The game basically is Brotato 2 with robots instead of potato heads.
Not a huge fan of survivor likes but this one felt especially dull to me unfortunately. Visually it's quite noisy with lack of a distinct identity and impactful feedback. Upgrades are hard to discern their actual power and still I never had any issue finishing runs without fail, making it feel even more mindless than the genre already is. If you like your bullet heaven survivor type games to be a chill time without need for much thought you could definitely do worse though.

IF NOT "BROTATO", WHY "BROTATO" SHAPED?! Do you LOVE Brotato? I mean it. Do you LOVE Brotato? If not, A: Close this page and play Brotato somewhere, then come back. B: Play Brotato until you are tired of Brotato, then come back to this review. If you answered YES to "Do you LOVE Brotato?" have I got a game for you. Gunbot Diplomacy is a different Brotato, slightly worse in just about every respect, but a solid game that I ended up enjoying and playing way more than I expected I would. But if you've played the HECK out of Brotato and just want something slightly different/the thrill of unlocking different stuff and finding other combos, you could do a lot worse than Gunbot Diplomacy. If you've made it this far, you know the drill - GD is a top-down shoot 'em up roguelite where you kill things, collect currency, and get random upgrades. It's got far less characters, enemies and bosses, though a surprisingly large amount of upgrades. The main difference is a hex shaped upgrade combo system, which is good news and bad news. It gives you some more options and variety, but makes shifting to a new build or strategy late game nearly impossible because you're already locked in to so many tied together upgrades. There's also a lot of confusion as to what works with what, what DOES what, and what effects are actually happening - as the game can be a bit visually a clusterf, and the tooltips aren't always super clear. There's MAJOR balance issues (a couple of the upgrades are way way way way more powerful than others), but if you can avoid just picking the OP stuff, you can have some fun with combos and other varieties of items, just seeing what works and what works together. I'm not going to complicate things. If you love Brotato, and want a little more Brotato but slightly different, Gunbot Diplomacy is for you. If not, you're better served by Brotato.
This is a fun little arcade-like game thats part puzzle solving in how you select/place upgrades and mostly using arrow keys to move around a tiny map as your weapons systems all fire automatically. It's one of the few games in my library that I've "finished" and would highly recommend.
5/10 not much here, but its only 5$ play time past 20 minutes afk card farming
Very Brotato inspired, with some unique twists. The Grid system is quite interesting but eventually feels like it punishes experimentation. The ability to move nodes around might help. The meta is kind of egregious, offering rerolls for meta currency isn't great balancing. Some weapons seem way way better than others. I'd only recommend this to diehard survivorhead buildcrafters.
It has shoot. It has loot. It is very well designed. I do recommend to those that like the survivors style of games.
Gunbot Diplomacy, developed by Sleepy Sentry and published by GrabTheGames and Gamersky Games, is a fast-paced top-down roguelite shooter that blends frantic arena combat with a surprisingly deep modular customization system. At first glance, it fits comfortably within the increasingly popular wave-based survival genre, where players fend off swarms of enemies in contained arenas. However, what sets Gunbot Diplomacy apart is its emphasis on build experimentation and strategic module placement, transforming each run into a sandbox of mechanical possibilities rather than a simple test of reflexes. The premise is straightforward but effective. In a chaotic post-apocalyptic wasteland filled with grotesque mutants and bizarre enemies, you pilot customizable “Gunbots” designed to survive overwhelming odds. Each run drops you into progressively difficult arenas where enemies spawn in waves, forcing you to constantly reposition, attack, and adapt. Combat feels immediate and kinetic, with responsive controls that allow for smooth movement and weapon deployment. The pacing is relentless, and survival often depends on how effectively you can combine mobility with offensive output. While the core loop is familiar to fans of the genre, the execution remains engaging thanks to varied enemy designs and escalating difficulty curves. The true heart of Gunbot Diplomacy lies in its modular build system. Instead of simply selecting upgrades from linear menus, players arrange weapons and augment modules on a hexagonal grid, creating synergies based on placement and combination. This spatial customization adds a layer of strategy beyond raw stat increases. Certain arrangements unlock evolved weapons or enhanced effects, encouraging players to think not only about what they equip, but where they place it. The presence of multiple base Gunbot archetypes further expands strategic diversity, as each unit starts with unique traits that influence optimal builds. One run might revolve around high-speed mobility and precision targeting, while another might focus on heavy armor and area-of-effect devastation. Weapon variety is robust, ranging from traditional ballistic firearms to more absurd and experimental tools. Some builds emphasize automated firepower, allowing players to concentrate on movement, while others demand manual aiming and tighter positioning. As upgrades stack and synergies activate, the screen can erupt into controlled chaos—projectiles ricocheting, explosions chaining, and enemies dissolving in waves. This sense of escalating power is a hallmark of successful roguelites, and Gunbot Diplomacy delivers satisfying moments of overwhelming dominance when builds come together effectively. Despite its strengths, the game does tread familiar ground within the arena survival genre. The basic wave-based structure and minimalist stage layouts echo other popular titles, which may make it feel derivative to players deeply familiar with the formula. However, the hex-grid customization system does enough to distinguish the experience, especially for players who enjoy tinkering with builds and optimizing synergies. The learning curve is approachable, but mastering advanced combinations requires experimentation and a willingness to adapt after failed runs. Visually, Gunbot Diplomacy adopts a colorful, slightly exaggerated art style that prioritizes clarity during hectic combat. Enemy silhouettes and projectile effects remain readable even when the screen fills with chaos. The tone balances apocalyptic grit with playful absurdity, featuring quirky enemy designs and unconventional weapon concepts that inject personality into the action. Sound design complements the visuals with punchy weapon effects and energetic feedback that reinforces the arcade-like rhythm of gameplay. Replayability is one of the game’s strongest assets. With multiple Gunbot types, dozens of modules, evolving weapon forms, and ongoing content updates—including endless modes and additional maps—the variety encourages repeated playthroughs. Each run presents new combinations and emergent strategies, ensuring that no two sessions feel identical. Even when failure occurs, it often feels instructive rather than frustrating, pushing players to refine builds and explore different synergies. Ultimately, Gunbot Diplomacy stands as a polished and creatively driven entry in the roguelite shooter landscape. It may not reinvent the arena survival formula entirely, but its modular customization system injects enough strategic depth to keep the experience fresh and engaging. For players who thrive on build experimentation, fast reflex combat, and incremental mastery, it offers a rewarding blend of chaos and calculation. The game’s accessible mechanics, strong replay value, and distinct customization approach make it a compelling option for fans of high-energy indie shooters seeking both intensity and strategic flexibility.
GUNBOT DIPLOMACY, is a inventory management round based survivors-like that is playing a tough balancing game between simplicity and a lot of complexity. This game is clearly inspired by Brotato and most of the mechanics within the game are very similar. Most of the game, is about managing a hex grid that acts as your inventory, storing all your weapons and modifications to those weapons. Gunbot Diplomacy does make an attempt to make the management a litte easier but highlighting relevant components but the distinction between highlighted and non-highlighted items are far too little and make it quite hard to use. The classes, weapons, and perks are quite limted and may make the game quite boring quicky. It is not a bad game at all, the grid system is unique and not overwhelming. The upgrades are mostly easy to understand and the combat just follows the traditional auto aim and pick up drops gameplay. The combat is satisfying and the gameplay is extremely smooth with zero bugs. If you want more round-based twin sticks, then this is definitely a game to pick up. PROS: - Fun upgrade system - Not unfairly challenging - Good price point - Great little achievements CONS: - Difficult to see highlights - Little replaybility especially for a roguelike It is pretty astonishing that you get tired of this type of roguelike game in around 10 hours.
