Guacamelee! 2 — 8.7/10 Review I highly recommend this game! The story is absolutely legendary, especially with the introduction of multiple timelines. Discovering that in the timeline you visit, you were actually killed by Calaca, and that Salvador is the one who kills Calaca because the mask took control of him, was an incredible plot twist. The game has zero repetition. The chicken form's abilities and the special key challenges (collecting the chicken key pieces) are amazing. The chicken storyline itself is brilliant. The normal ending is quite emotional—seeing him return after so many years, missing his kids growing up right before his eyes, is truly heartbreaking. However, the secret ending (the Good Ending) fixes everything; instead of him spending ages searching for his timeline, he returns immediately. I actually played this game back in 2019 (I forgot on which platform), and I remember enjoying it so much. That's why I wanted to replay it now, unlock everything (100%), and fully understand the story. Pros World Design: Even though there are fewer areas compared to the first game, each area is massive. New Challenges: The newly introduced challenges are legendary. Masterpiece Soundtrack: The music is on a whole different level—absolutely fantastic. Progression System: The upgrades are miles ahead of the first installment; every single upgrade feels valuable and impactful. Great References: The game is packed with amazing pop-culture and gaming references. Cons Disappointing Bosses: The final boss was way too easy, and overall, the game lacks a good number of boss fights—there are very few of them. Juan's Moveset: Juan plays almost exactly like the first game, with only one new ability. Over-reliance on Chicken Form: The game relies heavily on the chicken's abilities; without them, the gameplay would probably feel quite boring.
