Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 1 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I played this game years ago and since I lost my CD I bought the game on Steam. Most people would probably buy this game if they played it before. Not disappointed. Sweet childhood memories.

classic . very good . nothing no complain
Ground Control II, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Rebellion, stands as a distinctive and confident entry in the real-time strategy genre, one that deliberately moves away from traditional RTS conventions in favor of a more focused, tactical battlefield experience. Originally released in the mid-2000s and later made accessible to a new audience through Steam, the game remains notable for its emphasis on moment-to-moment decision-making rather than economic micromanagement. Set in a distant future where humanity is fractured and fighting for survival among the stars, the game places players at the heart of a desperate military campaign that balances large-scale science-fiction spectacle with tightly controlled combat scenarios. The core identity of Ground Control II is defined by its rejection of base building and resource harvesting, systems that dominate much of the RTS landscape. Instead, battles revolve around controlling strategic points on the map and earning acquisition points, which are then used to deploy reinforcements, call in support abilities, or replace lost units. This design choice keeps the pace consistently intense and ensures that every engagement feels purposeful. There is little room for passive play or long-term turtling; players are constantly encouraged to advance, reposition, and adapt as enemy forces respond dynamically. The result is a game that feels closer to real-time tactics than traditional strategy, where positioning, timing, and combined-arms coordination are far more important than sheer production output. Combat itself is where the game truly excels. Units are highly specialized, with clear strengths, weaknesses, and secondary abilities that reward thoughtful deployment. Infantry squads, armored vehicles, artillery, and aircraft all play distinct roles, and careless use of any one unit type is quickly punished. Terrain plays a crucial role as well, with elevation, cover, and line of sight directly affecting combat outcomes. Hills provide firing advantages, forests offer concealment, and urban structures can both shield and trap units depending on how engagements unfold. The fully rotatable and zoomable camera enhances this tactical depth, allowing players to survey the battlefield from a strategic overview or zoom in to manage precise skirmishes. The faction design further reinforces the game’s strategic variety. The human Northern Star Alliance fields conventional military hardware, emphasizing combined-arms tactics, disciplined formations, and flexible support options. In contrast, the alien Viron forces introduce a more unconventional approach through their unique melding mechanic, which allows units to merge into new forms with different capabilities. This system encourages experimentation and adaptability, as Viron commanders can reshape their forces in response to changing battlefield conditions. While the game features only two primary factions, their asymmetry and internal depth are strong enough to keep the campaign and skirmish modes engaging throughout. Narratively, Ground Control II offers a surprisingly robust story for a strategy game, framing its missions within a larger arc of survival, resistance, and moral ambiguity. The campaign follows key figures within the Northern Star Alliance as they attempt to escape annihilation and uncover ancient technologies that could alter the balance of power. The tone is serious and often bleak, reinforcing the sense that humanity is fighting from a position of weakness rather than dominance. Mission briefings and in-game dialogue provide enough context to make objectives feel meaningful, even if the story never overshadows the gameplay itself. Instead, it functions as a steady narrative backbone that gives emotional weight to the battles being fought. Visually, the game was impressive for its time and still holds up respectably today due to its strong art direction and clear visual language. Units are easily readable in combat, explosions and effects convey impact without overwhelming the screen, and the environments feel varied and intentionally designed for tactical play rather than mere decoration. The audio design complements this well, with mechanical weapon sounds, atmospheric music, and voice lines that reinforce the scale and urgency of each encounter. Together, these elements create an immersive battlefield experience that draws the player into the conflict. Despite its strengths, Ground Control II is not without its challenges. The learning curve can be steep, especially for players accustomed to traditional RTS mechanics, and the faster pace leaves little room for mistakes. Losing units can be costly, and poor positioning can quickly cascade into mission failure. However, this difficulty is also one of the game’s defining strengths, as it rewards careful planning, battlefield awareness, and adaptability. Success feels earned rather than inevitable, and victories often come down to smart use of limited resources rather than brute force. In the end, Ground Control II remains a standout example of how the RTS genre can evolve by stripping away excess systems and focusing on what happens on the battlefield itself. Its emphasis on tactical combat, meaningful terrain usage, and faction asymmetry gives it a lasting identity that continues to resonate with strategy fans. While it may not appeal to players seeking sprawling base management or endless economic growth, it offers a tightly designed, challenging, and deeply engaging experience for those who value precision and strategy under pressure. As a result, Ground Control II endures as a memorable and influential title, well worth revisiting for anyone interested in a more focused and intense take on real-time strategy. Rating: 8/10
