Quite a well made DLC. It'll take many hours to properly chew on, as all things Grim Dawn are, but after playing through on Ultimate, I'm pleased with how polished and refined things have gotten. The music and sound design in particular are amazing. Despite folks crying about having to dodge and learn boss patterns, I welcome this. I tend to play aggressively and plan around how bosses fight rather than a cozy face-tanker. I absolutely love that we now have dodge augments too, which can be styled towards your preference of timing or panic dodging. Worst case scenario, you can always play on an easier difficulty to learn the boss first. Be a big boy. Learn the boss patterns.
This is a good DLC in my opinion - a lot of content, new areas, new mechanics, I'd recommend it to anyone who loved the game before. HOWEVER - I'm probably not going to finish it, because the difficulty is way too high for me (and I play on standard difficulty). I don't have a meta super-fleshed out build, but I did breeze through all other DLCs without a problem. There are so many enemies that just randomly one-shot me out of nowhere with no way of reacting. And if they don't one-shot me, I get a dot I can't out-heal and die 2 seconds later. ...fun. Note that it's only bosses and certain enemy types that are this frustrating (looking at you, Fallen Warder). Yes, I could/should grind for better equipment and fine-tune my stuff more, but I feel like I should at least be able to get through the main story without that much trouble. Imo, this is a high-level DLC for the most hardcore players - too much for me to be enjoyable. However, I bet a lot of people will relish the challenge. I'm just not good enough - that's on me, not the game.

Well I started it again. Goodbye rest of the year. Berserker is an awesome mastery the possibilities are endless. Wereraven is so sick. Game looks and feels better than it ever did. Haven't seen the new areas yet but if the screenshots are anything to go by, its gonna be a treat. Cons: -Not enough sex scenes. -Lingerie options are too limited, especially for males.
Grim Dawn has become the best ARPG on the market by now. A deeper review will follow in time.
English Version (Formal but frank, fit for Steam forum / dev feedback, keeps all your original complaints intact, natural for western ARPG players) Disclaimer first: This is genuinely a great game, I’ve had tons of fun with it. But do the devs even play their own game? They just dump test builds on us players to do all the playtesting for them. The new DLC map is massive yet completely empty, and don’t even get me started on how terrible the Malmouth map design has been for years. The game’s abysmal tutorial and quest guidance have been a known issue forever, yet the dev team never bothers fixing it. Sure, you can learn everything after hundreds of play hours—but is that really a good thing? Small gaming communities always attract toxic loudmouth content creators. Two streamers, Dusk Deep and Tea-Drinking Druid, stirred up a massive backlash. They flooded the devs with feedback demanding nerfs to almost every other build, while never saying a single word about summoner builds. Summoners can auto-farm the Arena and one-shot Celestials—how is that balanced? Now those same people are still begging to nerf every other class; where’s the sense in that? The new mechanics added in the DLC are fantastic, but come on devs, you dropped Berserker shapeshifts and made Werewolf & Raven forms utterly garbage. Please buff these new class variants. This is a single-player game, not a seasonal live service like Path of Exile or Diablo—we just want satisfying, satisfying loot cleave gameplay. The three summoner builds are absurdly easy to get fully set up, while every other class gets left out in the cold with terrible stat scaling. I had a half-built Warlord before the DLC patch rolled out. Back then, I could clear Arena wave 170 comfortably and farm Shattered Realm floor 10 without much pressure. After the update? I struggle hard just past Arena wave 130, and I run out of time by Shattered Realm floor 4. Meanwhile those two problematic streamers are still uploading videos of summoners speed-running 30–31 floors and deleting Celestials instantly. I’m begging the devs to rebalance the stats for all other classes and give them meaningful buffs. Constantly slashing power and cranking up overall difficulty only drives new players away. Instead of rushing to work on Grim Dawn 2, please listen to your existing playerbase and polish Grim Dawn properly first. Stop blindly taking terrible feedback from a handful of toxic content creators in the GD community. Those streamers test build strength using cheat engines, then turn around and claim certain builds are overpowered—they never mention how rare or hard it is to farm the required gear at all! All they do is scream nonstop about nerfing everything they personally dislike. If anything, summoners are the ones who desperately need nerfs right now. But if the devs do tone summoners down, those creators will immediately throw a fit and whine that summoners have slow movement and bad map traversal. They want all the perks with zero downsides, and it’s infuriating. Devs, please put more care into refining this game!
I thoroughly enjoyed this expansion. At its core, it's more Grim Dawn. New areas, new enemies, new items and secrets and classes. But it adds a lot of new things too, from the potions crating and item rerolling to the new ways to crank up the difficulty and rewards. Glad to get such a great expansion so late into the game's life
- level design passable - quest design nul (on est perdu et on perd son temps) - crafting nul à chier (systématiquement désavantageux) - taux de drop inadapté bref aucun plaisir, dommage j'avais adoré à l'époque
It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AMAZING, made an already fantastic game go from 10/10 to 12/10.
good
As a long time Grim Dawn player, I've seen a lot of changes from the old days. Overall, FoA implements a mind-boggling number of updates, and they're all quite fun and welcome. For example, upheaval is no longer procs exclusively on crit, and is now a dedicated wps. Finally. On its own, obviously a small tweak, but there are TONS of things like this. They've also implemented a number of item-based skill boosts that, in my opinion, make lots of things just a little bit more fun. These are all welcome changes, although many of them I expect will fundamentally shift quite a few legacy builds. Still, for me, this a breathed at least a few more runs of new life into what is, at this point, a rather old game. Plenty of new items drop from the getgo, and they all offer interesting tweaks to oldies but goodies I'm sure lots of folks will be interested in making a new build to try out. I'm sure some changes won't be for everyone, but that's just how it goes, isn't it?
