I absolutely loved this game. Everything about it was breathtakingly beautiful – from the artwork, the story, soundtrack, and the voice acting. If you like Tim Burton’s work, you will likely love this. The story was heartwarming and wonderful to experience. There are frequent autosaves and the ability to replay any of the 14 chapters in case you miss a memento or a grave keeper sighting. Gameplay mostly consists of switching characters to solve puzzles and advance. Nena can climb, operate machines and go into the light. Gloomy is strong, can fight, and works in the shadows. There is a bit of stealth and some fighting (meaning, evade attacks and basically click to attack – nothing complicated). Not usually what I do, and I didn’t win the skilled combat achievements, but I made it through pretty easily. I always think if I can do it then almost anyone can. Skilled combat peoples will probably find it super simple, but I think the pull of the story is enough that it lessens any criticisms of any stealth/combat bits. I can’t recommend this game enough. It was a joy to play.
Gloomy Eyes is a delightful adventure with a style that is “Tim Burton-ish.” At its heart, it is a love story between Gloomy (the zombie boy) and Nena (a lonely human girl). With themes taken from Romeo and Juliet, the two come from different “tribes” and their friendship is forbidden. They must fight to stay together, working in tandem to restore sunshine to a dark world. You control both characters. Gloomy is impervious to zombies but is killed by light. Nena thrives in the light and is at risk in the dark. She handles the machinery while Gloomy manipulates objects. For most puzzles, you must use the two together to achieve your goal. The controls are easy. Jumping, climbing, and running are handled by the game. All you do is move ahead and interact. I played with a controller which worked quite well. There is a bit of stealth which was easy and two chapters with combat. The combat involved evading death while using a single key to knock creatures or objects about. I did not survive to get the “finish without injury” achievements but made it through with a minimum number of fatalities. If you enjoyed Nightmare before Christmas, then you are likely to love this game. The art, animation, and soundtrack are combined to form a truly delightful experience. The game autosaves regularly and you have an option to restart any completed chapter or return to the last checkpoint. Almost all Steam achievements can be easily missed. While most are earned in a single chapter (and can be retried easily), two are cumulative and require activities in multiple chapters. I highly recommend Gloomy Eyes. In many ways, it feels like it has drawn primary inspiration from The Midnight Walk by MoonHood (May 2025) which remains in my list of favorite games.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Experienced on the Samsung Odyssey 3D G90XF
You can view my 3D gaming here (4K SBS 3D / VR 180): https://youtu.be/4K8MEVHo2R4 Yes, you can play Gloomy Eyes in 3D in VR or a 3D display using the completely free Geo-11 3D driver. No, this game is NOT already VR, the VR game on Steam is a completely different game based on the same IP. The VR version is a 360 movie short. This "pancake" version is a narrative-driven horror adventure puzzle game. I don't know why the developers didn't make this a VR game. It would have been perfect for VR. Maybe they were afraid of a 3rd person adventure game in VR not being accepted. However, they would have been wrong. This game screams VR. Well, we may not have VR, but playing it 3D in VR shows off the potential. This game looks gorgeous in 3D. Absolutely stunning & pure eye candy. There is no better way to experience this game. Although there is no specific fix for this game, the 3D looks perfect or near perfect. VR is tailor-made for games with differing perspectives! I did not notice any issues. The game has so much potential — if you love Little Nightmares, you will think this game is for you. But upon playing it, I realized it really has nothing to do with Little Nightmares. The visuals are amazing and the story is good, but unfortunately the execution is kinda bad. The gameplay is really slow and there are many bugs — sometimes you need to restart the chapter if the character gets stuck. The puzzles aren't obvious, which is great, but some of them are so sparse that it isn't fun figuring them out given how slow the character walks. Perhaps that adds to the coziness of the game, and that might just not be for everyone.
Gloomy Eyes is a short but very charming experience. It's not trying to reinvent storytelling or gameplay and, honestly, it doesn't need to. What it does, it does well. The story is simple, cute and surprisingly touching. It's presented like a dark fairy tale, mixing spooky visuals with a warm and wholesome story. The contrast works really well and gives the game its own unique atmosphere. I found myself getting attached to the characters. The visuals are really nice. Every scene looks carefully crafted, like you're actually looking into a miniature world. Combined with the narration and music, it creates a cozy atmosphere even when the story gets a little sad or creepy. The achievements deserve a special mention. They're not difficult, but some of them are downright evil. The game makes you care about the characters and then asks you to do something terrible to them just to unlock an achievement. More than once I knew exactly what I had to do and still didn't really want to do it. Overall, the game won't change your life, but it's a lovely little story with a lot of charm. If you enjoy dark fairy tales, it's well worth spending an evening with it.
FAVE GAME SO FAR! Obsessed with the Tim Burton-esque art style, dark and phenomenal atmosphere, reminded me of LN3 but cozy & adorable. Great soundtrack, great voice actors, beautiful storyline, easy combat, light puzzles...HAD TO 100% it !! LOVE LOVE LOVE will play it again sometime this year<3 great job with this one guys, need a sequel<333
Cute, cozy game with good puzzles. I found the camera to be annoying and got in the way of playing the game though.
Quick little puzzle game. I finished in 4 hours. 14 diorama like levels. Each of the characters had different abilities to manipulate and move through the level. I need to go back and get some of the collectables I missed. I saw where some of the collectables were but ended up at the end of the level instead. Macabre but cute character designs. My main complaint was the music. There was only one track that played on repeat throughout. I got stuck in the level geometry a few times. Restarting the level fixed getting stuck, but the check points were sometimes far back. At one point I lost the firefly lantern. I had to restart to get it to reset back into the level. I recommend the game for it's dark and gloomy atmosphere. I
