I've never been in the air outside of a plane but I downloaded this on my VR system after watching the tom scott video on the subject just to give it a try. At first I wasn't sold on the concept but when I hit my first thermal and was able to ascend beyond my starting elevation, entirely passively, that's when it clicked for me. This game lets you fly, for real! I decided to try out the google earth demo and it's pretty cool too. Was able to take a long commute in style, through the air. As far as extrinsic/game objectives the game is very barebones but I'm not looking for any so its great for me. Also, the game runs well on a pretty low spec gpu which is awesome. My two wishes are 1. an option that could make the wind a bit more dynamic over time and space, instead of just a fixed speed and direction, so there's some incentive to be at certain heights if you are trying to get a tailwind. 2. a way to save and resume flights. I'm pretty prone to motion sickness and can't play vr or even a lot of non vr first person games for more than an hour or two. It'd be nice to be able to pick up later from my elevation, speed, position etc.
Steam link did not work for me but Virtual Desktop worked well. There is one map available for free and I think a trial of the google earth stuff. I found it quite fun to fly around with the different gliders. The challenges on a speed wing where fun. I'm a paramotor pilot. I would say the flight model is decent but certainly not super close to real life. Pretty well implemented.

I understand that the game may have been made for learning purposes, but I still can’t call it a quality or playable game.

Did it blow my doors off with excitement and novelty? No. But I got to take off from the airstrip next to my childhood home, and fly from there to where I live now, and that was honestly a very transcendent experience. I recommend giving it a try.
a very relaxing game. vr is great and visually stunning using google maps. You can fly around knowns areas and see locations from a different point of view. my son and i both put hours into this straight away.
The graphics are dated, and I wasnt first impressed of it. But I feelt I ought to try it since a distant relative of mine died in accident with one of these. Personally I never feelt a rush to try something like this out in real life since life is to short and there is no protection if failure arise as my relative experienced. Anyhow. When you first choose the hangglider and it zooms into first person and you hear the wind, it actually feels real, then you run out over the cliff and clide and the wind soars. it feels quite real regardless of graphics since the sound of the wind and the altitude in VR gives a thrill. It´s not something I will get back to but it was interesting to try. If the maps where bigger or you can choose locations like Sweden where I live I would think of getting it.
the terrain just doesnt look good enough to enjoy this game.
Very nice game if you are into relaxed flying. I would highly recommend.
