About
In this game, you’re sent to a high-rise apartment complex as an insurance agent. Your colleague couldn’t make it in time, and no one has told you exactly what’s going on. But you have your camera with you, so you can start documenting everything for your upcoming report.
In Giants, you’ll experience the tragic story of the residents of the 8th floor:
The story isn’t told through words, but through the setting, the objects, and the atmosphere.
In the seven apartments on the 8th floor, you’ll encounter a wide variety of characters.
Giants is a walking simulator with puzzle elements.
All assets have been handcrafted specifically for Giants.
The hallways of the high-rise feel unsettling. The walls are thin, and it’s hard not to hear what’s going on in the neighboring apartment. Although it’s never truly quiet, it’s not a place that’s bursting with life. Loneliness, anonymity, and a lack of prospects define life. The atmosphere is oppressive. It’s actually hard to imagine that people live here.

"king of the slugs" 💖🖤🖤 🟩 good atmosphere 🔷 some unsettling scenes 🔴 flashlight and interact being the same action is annoying vibes: quiet despair loops: barge into people's homes and rummage through their drawers simulator, also help them with small tasks states: finished, got all the achievements, found 3 out of ? cds ramblings: fascinating if lightly janky game. has some disturbing scenes in the end. · there's zero context in the actual game, you boot up and it just starts you in the hallway. the trailer shows you in an elevator, but that scene never happens in the game. and nothing in game hints that you're some investigative insurance agent, you might as well just be any random stranger with a camera. except, going out of bounds and entering the elevator shows that there's an actual sequence with voice acting and everything. i can't tell if it was cut from the game or if starting in the hallway is a bug. · some great environmental storytelling and lots of little details. a pc starting will show a bootup sequence, the rumbling shaking of a washing machine reverberating throughout, a toy racecar track. there's lots of touches in the apartments, everything seems unique and tailored to show the character of the apartment's inhabitant. like it immediately creates these great little ministories for each apartment. i also really liked the different characters. things like the chameleon shifting colors. the hoarder caterpillar was sort of freaky visually. · couldn't overflow any sinks, mildly disappointed. · ♥♥♥♥ the password puzzle. i ended up partly brute forcing it. i think you're supposed to count the rock objects, but two colors you need to distinguish are brownish-red and reddish-brown. and what counts or not seemed ambiguous, a pair of shoes counts as a single item, one object i found didn't seem to count. baffling, felt unclear. · it does feel a little eye-rolly in going for a "the true horror is living in an apartment! ye gads!" but that's maybe uncharitable to say it's all the game is doing. the atmosphere was done really well. i liked the slug and meat imagery. caterpillar seems pretty stoked at least. verdicts: i enjoyed this. its a strong little environmental piece. while i thought some of the 'puzzles' were off and janky, none of them are required to get the most out of this. bit of an abrupt ending.
