Reviews

Definitely give it a chance. It is a much better environment than the other Supreme Ruler games which are stuck on one planet. There is a large learning curve and you have to watch tutorials but it is good after that.
I've been a Battlegoat junkie since SR 2010 and own nearly every SR game, putting in countless hours in the series. (I think one of the reasons my ex-wife divorced me because of my addiction to GR 2010...) When I learned of Galactic Ruler, I was excited and skeptical at first, but eventually thought "It's Battlegoat, so it ought to be great." I'm also an avid space gamer, so I thought this could be the best of both worlds. I thought the learning curve would be minimal since it is modeled after SR Ultimate. The game is great, but the learning curve is pretty steep, even for SR junkies, so give the game a little time to grow on you. It will! There are times I curse BG Studios because of killing my social life. Between the SR Series and now GR Series, all of my other Steam games are suffering from severe neglect. :) Gameplay is fantastic and deep - just what you expect from the BG'ers. You not only manage your colonies from space, but also planetary surface. Graphics are Battlegoat Studios - need I say more? Fun factor: 9 out of 10. Aside from the incessant energy resource problem, the game is highly addictive. You start off with next to nothing and slowly build your empire and military. And what would a good space game be without Pirates? GR has em. You can opt to turn them off, but what fun would that be? Overall: Recommended for any Battlegoat junkie that also loves 4X space games. Non-Battlegoat junkies: due to the very steep learning curve and the incessant energy crisis, you may want to consider other 4X spacers. Peace out! - Lord Slayz
I love this games. It has grown quite much since the release and the development team is awesome. In the beginning it may look difficult, but with time you will start to like the game! The conquest of a planet + at the same time fighting in the space to keep your planet units safe, is totally fun.
iv been playing this on and off through its development. its a really sweet game. its like stelaris, or distant worlds, or master of Orion. but with its own unique story, game play, and flare. if your into that kinda thing, you might as well buy this one too. ur going to find yourself playing it, and having fun. and thinking about what u wanna do next while ur at work lol. but i will say its kinda hard to learn. only because its so different tho. so go into it with an open mind and dont compare it to the other 3 i mentioned.
Ooof. I am not terribly familiar with BattleGoat games, and I have to assume that if I were, I'd understand some of the UI choices made here. The other posters aren't kidding; the UI is a convoluted mess, with seemingly basic tasks taking unpredictable steps and detour to accomplish. I really tried hard to get into this and mostly I just got myself tired of it.
