Might be a good game somewhere under this horrible UI, but I haven't been able to find it.
I play this when i want to fall asleep. A+ as a sleep aid.
Enjoyable, but could of used more continued support. I can still recommend the game! I would like to see Supreme Ruler tie into this game in the future. That would be very cool, but might not be realistic to do so. Overall, decent game.

The fact that this game is consuming some of my time means it receives a recommendation. But I understand why it has a current "All reviews" status of Mixed. To a non SR player the UI is daunting and the control / selection method is counter - intuitive until you have put some time in to grow used to it. Then it begin's to flow better. In all other respects it is a lighter, more fast paced & engaging Supreme Ruler game. Research is better , Resource management , after upgrade 6 , is now an asset and not a barrier. Also only having to cope with 4 resources helps. I still have some way to go to begin to get to grips with the (Land) combat mechanics but it's familiar so I do not anticipate any major issues. I have not come across any bug's so that's a plus too. So hopefully I may get some way into this game. As an aside It does concern me that the developer insists on having more than one ball in the air (Supreme Ruler 2030) and then intends to publish another version of this game ! But I acknowledge that Galactic Ruler has benefited from SR 2030. Last word ? ..... maybe it's time to go in another direction.
Abandoned and then resold as a new copy. Avoid this version if the game looks interesting, it is not a good game though.
This isn't my final review but it kind of a huge oversight if the enemy captures your orbital station and you can't do anything planet side to fight back. essentially to win the game just capture all orbital stations. not sure if it space game or planet game because there is no planet to space function. feels like your playing 2 separate games that do not interact with each other. No space nukes. Your fleet gets claimed if your space station gets taken over. You can't claim your space station back if you only have planets. You start with a massive energy minus. The solution. Remove a lot of the junk on your home planet. Very basic game only 4 resources. Supreme ruler ultimate has 11. All colonies are treated as separate empires. In some sense you don't have control and more like "america" with federal system" I won't even go into the UI itself but basically something basic like clicking on stuff should open their "context" menu at least. Like clicking on a planet should open up a planet overview or clicking on a unit should show a unit popup menu. Instead the game relies on outdated lists you need to scroll though then hover your mouse over to highlight unit infomation.
If you like the Supreme Ruler series and want something with a slightly different flavour (namely a spacey flavour), I would definitely recommend it. This game does streamline a lot of the resources compared to SR, but this just allows for more focus on the other elements of the game, but you absolutely still need to manage your resources properly. In fact, watch the opening video as it tells an important part of the story (namely the Merchant AI, and energy). Is the Merchant AI good, bad, neutral? That's the question, but you will absolutely be dependent on it at first (or maybe forever). When it comes to gameplay, I would highly recommend using hotspots and ensuring your ROE settings are good (medium initiative is a good start). Using the hotspots, you can have your AI manage your units as you see fit. For example you can set a defense hotspot near your enemies planet (not too close), that will have the AI continuously send units, which will give you a decent recon. And of course setting a hotspot to guard your own planets. The AI does a pretty good job, but of course at anytime you can just take over if you want to manage them yourself. I would recommend combining these tactics to some degree. Exploration is fun, and just like above you can even set hotspots to this for you. Watch as you find out whether or not any of the planets in your system are good enough to keep you going or if you need to develop FTL and explore the rest of the galaxy. Combat is good too, watching the ships shoot each other, the sound, etc, all well done. Another tip here is using formations (it'll be in the orders section on the left side). Put your units in the formation you want first, and then use the formation command. This is a great way to ensure that when you're navigating to your enemy's planet, that they don't have units that get by you unseen. Trading and resource management, while streamlined, is still a key element of any SR game and this is no exception. If you don't pay attention to them your economy, and thus you, will get crushed. You will need to manage your resources both on the planet side and the space side, as some planets cannot be landed on and can only be extracted from using an orbital station. Ensuring proper supply via Supply Depots is also very key. If you have 10% supply to an area, expect 10% production from it. As for your production itself, you will want to ensure that you set the proper import/export levels, production levels, etc, to ensure you're getting maximum efficiency out of them. So again, while it's "streamlined", it's still absolutely critical that you pay attention to each of your resources and what they're doing for you. Haven't done much diplomacy yet, as the "first stage" of the game can be somewhat tricky... so I haven't gotten that far, but it looks to be the same as SR. I can't speak to the AI's diplomacy skills, though as I simply haven't gotten to the point where it becomes a factor beyond war or no war. Overall, this is a great standalone game from the SR series. If you prefer space to planet-side 4x games, and you like SR, it should be a no-brainer. More bonus points for this game I would say is the music (it's good, and it dynamically may change depending on the situation, such as encountering enemy units). As well, I mentioned the intro above in terms of helping to understand the storyline, but the intro itself is quite enjoyable (not too long either). Highly recommended to any Supreme Ruler fan, or any 4X fan for that matter, especially if space is your forte.
A very unique take on both the Supreme Ruler formula and space-4X genre, that will definitely take some time to learn, but is pretty enjoyable once you get the hang of it. I wholeheartedly recommend looking up some gameplay before purchasing if you are on the fence with getting this game or not.
So close to good. Lot of good ideas. This should not be out of beta as it is. Lots of UI gore and needs a lot of QOL updates. Too much clicking to do literally anything. Every action, setting, or choice requires too many clicks and menus. In the menus, some things are obvious and some are very hidden. Clicking on your units is a struggle. Why do I have to click (or rubberband) a unit(s) and then select the unit(s) from a menu? There are 2 options for mouse clicking setup and neither are good. Giving orders is a struggle. (Click then menu then click then menu then click etc). Very buggy. Systems/orders/units just stop working or start doing their own thing sometimes regardless of your settings for it (individual/global/governing). Combat is a mess. Too many units stack on top of each other where you can't see them there seems to be some stacking limit with no explanations. (And why isn't supply and resources numeric instead of just color shading?) And pretty hard to tell what's happening, especially in larger battles. City building and management are underwhelming and the necessary info for these modes is (somehow) under-represented. The AI that control your automated (whether you want it or not) systems is frustrating and buggy. Again, so close to being good. Needs a hard pass to clean up the UI and QOL updates to emulate mainstream games of similar genres. It has enough content, just clean it up.
