For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It is a fun game, i recommend the game . Definitely one of those just one more turn games and you are up until 1 am or more. The good. research, many characters, good graphics, can pick what you want to work on and how you want to play. The bad. Once in awhile it crashes. If you play against too many characters it slows down..way way down where not playable and often I go to click on the page and it will bring up one of my recruits on another screen and put them on the front screen and i have to click to get back out. Overall worth the money and had fun.
I haven’t finished my first campaign yet, but I wanted to leave an early review. I’m a big fan of space strategy games — Stellaris, Endless Space 2, and others — and I probably have well over a thousand hours across the genre. So how is Galactic Civilizations IV? Honestly: much better than I expected. The reviews seem somewhat mixed, but having played a lot of space strategy games, I can say with confidence that this game is genuinely fun. It doesn’t try to reinvent the genre or do anything wild, but it does enough things well — and differently enough — to absolutely be worth trying. (For clarity: I played the base game without DLC, since the sale ended before I could pick them up, but I do plan to try them later.) What really stands out to me is how open the map feels. Many space games rely on lanes or fixed paths, which can be fun and practical, but often make space feel smaller or more constrained. Gal Civ IV goes in a different direction. Instead of following predefined routes, you’re operating in open space — sometimes across multiple theatres — where you freely explore, colonise, fight, and build stations. It genuinely feels more space-like, and I’ve missed that. The game doesn’t excel at everything — or even at many things — but I actually think that’s fine. It does most things well, and that adds up to a very enjoyable experience. There are areas that could be smoother or more polished, but nothing felt fundamentally broken or frustrating. I also really enjoyed the frequent in-game events. They add flavour and help the universe feel more alive, rather than just being a static map you optimise. My biggest complaint is the UI. There’s a lot of double-clicking, accidental clicking, and small interactions that can get tiring over time. It’s not terrible, but it’s clearly the weakest part of the experience, and I hope it continues to be refined. Overall, I can genuinely recommend giving this game a try. It’s far better than its reputation might suggest, and if you enjoy space strategy games, there’s a very real chance this ends up becoming one of your favourite entries in the genre. It may not look flashy at first glance, but it’s a solid, thoughtful, and genuinely fun space strategy game that deserves more attention.
Having recently played Mind Over Magic (highly recommended!) which had one of the most polished interfaces of any game I've played in the last 30 years; Gal Civ 4 is just terrible. It's like they moved on the gameplay (a little) from previous versions but ignored how interfaces and QOL improvements have modernized. It's like wrangling a thinly skinned spreadsheet. Want to search for a tech that gives you a certain benefit? Nothing found. You need to search for the recognised titles only. Want to save the game in a mission? Enter a name like "xxx" and it adds a misson based extension to the name like "xxx_tutorial". Next session it doesn't bother to remember your save game name. So you click on "xxx_tutorial" and it saves as "xxx_tutorial_tutorial"! Once you figure this out, next time you just type "xxx" in the save game dialogue at which point you realise they don't use established good practice for the dialog box either and what you enter is appended to the "new saved game name" text that is actually in the dialog. Every time you have to manually delete the "new saved game name" text before you can enter your own, it doesn't overwrite by default! It still has the old "automation" interface which was good ten years ago but it is so limited when you don't want all planets to do the same thing or each planet to only do one thing. For example, each planet can build consumable supply ships that can be sent to a planet and essentially return more production to the destination than they cost to build. Which means all planets want to build supply ships all the time unless there is a specific need for something else. However there is no way I've found to have supply ships "just go to your home planet". So every turn you need to manually move each supply ship to the planet that needs to speed it's production. There aren't any decent overview screens to manage this kind of thing, just side bars and pop up tooltips, so you're constantly required to hover the mouse and wait for tooltips just to do simple tasks. Built a colonizer ship? Now hover over each of the 12 inhabitants portraits to find the one with the best skills to send. But wait it gets better - you need to hover over certain areas of the portrait to get the right information and some areas give you nothing (not sure if this is the interface scaling which seems buggy too, I play in 4K). Even with all the above it would still be on par with previous versions except it crashes to desktop randomly at least once a session. And the "submit a report to get a hint on fixes" dialog takes you to a general page that has no relevant information. I forgot to mention that to get to text tooltips it's not a hover but shift click + hover, which is a mind numbingly dumb idea. It's even worse because not all obscure text references have tooltips and so you often need to guess what a sci-fi name means. For a game with 5 DLCs at this point (glad I didn't buy those) it's a poor show that the core product has been so poorly produced. It's like the team are stuck in the previous decade. The game just doesn't help you naturally learn how to play because the interface is so bad. Mind Over Magic was so much a better experience - I was constantly amazed that I could do things like harvest all of a certain class of plant from the map with a simple and intuitive shift click. It showed the developers level of professionalism and love of playing the game that Gal Civ 4 is sorely lacking.
04/23/2025 Looks like it's two steps forward and one step back. I had only been playing a few turns when I ran into a new bug. Reported it. Not game breaking, but slightly expensive. This game simply needs a lot more time to mature. Game is still playable right now and recommended. 4/22/2025 I'm pleased to say that the devs released a patch that addresses some of the larger bugs such as the exploration ships not exploring, though if you watch a good streamer such as 100Stratman, then you'll see there are still quite a few waiting to be addressed. He's very good about pointing them out and working around them. Overall positive progress and I'm looking forward to a new game soon. 4/9/2025 Steam indicates I'm 38 hours in. Taking a break from this game as I wait for the devs to address some bugs. Recent one appears to prevent me from being able to build starbases per colony. Don't know why that happened, but it has been reported. I have almost all Stardock games and I know they're a good group. If you're picky about bugs, then wait for some of the many updates common with this game. If you're someone who uses the editor to overcome bugs and accept them as part of normal gameplay, then my review stands. I was going to purchase the next season pass, but I think I'll invest those $$ in Gal Civ III since it's a mature product and probably more to my tastes. This is an excellent game with a fantastic tutorial. Glad I bought it and the first group of DLC's. Will buy the next group, too.
