Reviews
4x are my favourite genre. This game has interesting concepts and lots of diverse mechanics. However, the horrible UI, bugs (game is not new), unimplemented or unfinished game mechanics and no optimization or meaningful graphic options control make it not worth the time.
OMG, trade deal spam never ends. It's like that annoying kid that just keep saying "I'm not touching you" with their finger two inches from your face.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Game play is fine but combat is boring.
Game need some major UI improvements. Would be my top 3 games ever
I just don't find this game enjoyable. The other races are too needy, constantly taking you out of the experiance to trade, yet you cannot disable communications with them for a set amount of turns like they can do with you. The pace of the game is all over the place. There is a very particular way you need to play this game to be successful and I feel there should be many paths to take, that I feel would make a much more better game. Do not pay full price for this.
Disappointed seeing AI generated portraits, I can only imagine the implementation is more extensive but I'm refunding before I find out.
The game is too boring. For example, enemy's planets are protected by military bases that I can't defeat, meanwhile he spam sends weak fleets that I destroy immediately. I've destroyed hundreds of his ships while he just destroyed a few probes, but I can't demand his surrender while he demands mine? It doesn't make any sense. Everything in this game is just bad, exploration, combat, diplomacy, research, the so called ship designer is just disgusting. And the game is expensive too. Disgusting waste of money.
NGL, the release started a little rough. But now, I feel the game is in a great place, and the AI Civ Creator is, to be frank, pretty damned awesome! My favorite part of the game now is the Mega Structures, the Dyson Spheres are awesome and look GORGEOUS. If you like the Franchise, get this one. If you like 4x, still get this one. I very much recommend it. If you wanna know specifics, Ill have comments enabled xD
You play for a couple dozen hours and you start wondering: where is the game? Yes, my sphere of influence is growing. Yes, my fleets are getting stronger. Yes, my planets are developed and industrial/scientific powerhouses. But where does it all lead and how does it add up? There's a finite amount of fun in watching a circle grow larger, or your fleets (of miniscule size compared to competitors BTW) engaging in terrible 2d auto-combat, or clicking build for the fortieth time on the newest colony. There are the trappings of a decent 4X scifi game, but only that and nothing more. There is no depth to the mechanics, no beauty to the "art," and certainly no polish to the systems (what even is the shipyard ship designer?). I would not recommend. Stardock makes other decent games. GalCiv4 isn't one of them.
While I am not enjoying this quite as much as I did 3, and even less than 2, it is still a worthy title in this series and genre.
