Overall, this is a fun rail shooter from what I’ve played so far. It wears the Star Fox inspo on its sleeve and it pays good homage. It’s not doing anything to re invent the wheel. And if I’m gauging correctly, I’ll probably do everything there is to do in this game when I fully sit down with it for another session. But I still think the game is good and absolutely worth getting if you enjoy the genre.
A cute take on the genre and an okay-ish Star Fox-like. What it lacks in versatility and content, it at least makes up for in... Charm and spirit, I guess. Can't recommend it though, not at the price tag it's asking for. I don't regret my purchase, make no mistake; but an incredibly short, 8 mission campaign with minor variations per playthrough, hard mode versions, a bit of bonus challenge content and an extra campaign that should have been there from the get go, are not worth $20 in my opinion. $15 at the very most, for what feels like a slowed down on-rails experience that doesn't have an accurate aiming reticle nor an option to turn off the aim assist for the blasters. 7/10. Purchase at your own curiosity. You might be less bored with it than I was.
FUR Squadron Phoenix me ha sorprendido gratamente, no solo por su propuesta visual y jugable, sino por la manera en que retoma y actualiza la esencia de los clásicos Star Fox. Es el primero de los dos títulos de la saga que juego, y por lo que entiendo, este funciona como secuela. A pesar de su corta duración, logra transmitir una experiencia intensa y entretenida, con un ritmo que recuerda a las campañas breves pero memorables de los shooters espaciales de los noventa. Lo más destacable es cómo captura esa mezcla de dinamismo y adicción que definía a Star Fox: la sensación de estar en una misión constante, con escenarios que se van complicando progresivamente y un final que exige concentración y habilidad. La curva de dificultad está bien medida, incrementando de manera gradual hasta ofrecer un reto sólido en los últimos niveles, lo que mantiene al jugador enganchado. En términos de jugabilidad, Phoenix conserva la fórmula que hizo grande a la saga de Nintendo: controles intuitivos, acción directa y un diseño que invita a repetir partidas para mejorar la puntuación o simplemente revivir la experiencia. Es un título que, aunque breve, sabe aprovechar cada minuto para ofrecer diversión pura. El único punto débil es su duración, que puede sentirse limitada.
