About

FRONT MISSION 1st: Remake is an immersive, tactical turn-based RPG, placing you in command of the awe-inspiring Wanzers – powerful military machines.
Assume the role of valiant pilots navigating treacherous battlefields, where the true realities of war come alive with every strategic maneuver. With a meticulously crafted narrative that surprises at every turn, the game showcases an extensive combat and battle system. Enjoy all these features through refreshed graphics and a reorchestrated soundtrack, elevating the gaming experience of the classic Front Mission series.
In the year 2090, the world's conflicts are fought using giant war machines called Wanzers. Huffman Island, the only place where the Oceania Cooperative Union (O.C.U.) and the Unified Continental States (U.C.S.) share a land border is a hotbed of conflict.
An O.C.U. reconnaissance platoon led by Captain Royd Clive is assigned to investigate a U.C.S. munitions plant. They are ambushed by U.C.S. Wanzers, triggering a series of events that plunges the whole island into war. Royd's fiancée, Lieutenant Karen Meure, goes missing in action.
Discharged from the military, Royd sets out to investigate what happened to Karen. His quest leads him closer and closer to the conspiracy behind the incident and the powers that orchestrated it.
With dozens of characters to meet, its mature story, and non-Manichean protagonists, Front Mission is the classic of a tactical Japanese RPG genre, finally available worldwide.

The classic mode is why I bought the remake. My first experience with front mission 1st was on a DS. I feel that this has managed to recreate my enjoyment of the game all that time ago. My major concern with the remake and why I held off so long was due to the new OST just not feeling correct for this game. The graphics, and mechanics all got a good overhaul. I do have some issues with terrain movement at times although it doesn't change much from the original. I also disliked the "creative" work to the tanks, convoy trucks, and other vehicles. I understand whoever did the overhaul wants to add their flare to the style yet it just doesn't do it for me. Otherwise I did notice some small UI changes that helped streamline the menu systems that felt like sandpaper at times. Performance issues were more pertinent to both windows 10 and 11. Oddly enough I have only seen performance increases on Ubuntu. Not small ones either, the entire game runs better in general. I assume others performance experiences will be different due to Linux being a silly goose at times. The game strongly prefers high frame rates but I don't see much value past maybe 100fps. Overall I really enjoyed it outside of the vehicle unit redesigns. I got the exact nostalgia hit I needed without too much being revamped.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

it's reassuringly similar to the original
Holy shizzles, they have what is basically a DLC for a SNES game? 10/10 experience.
